  2. I just realized the irony... My son and I are going to the Humane Society to pick up two 10-year old cats today, Corey and Pappy. Pappy is all black with the most beautiful eyes and Corey is white with black "accents". Oh, and my son is triskcaidecaphobic, so I have carefully not mentioned the date to him. ;).

  3. Cas Mudde: “Centrists” say [UK vote] is proof Sanders or Warren can't win. They're wrong [Click] Bloomberg, Biden both quick to make the “centrist” argument. I figure Buttigieg and Klobuchar can’t be far behind. Not to mention Obama. Why, if the Democrats run any farther to the left, they might pull off the shoulder and get onto the highway!

  5. I I always loved Friday the 13ths. My parents were married on one, so I always associated them with joy and peace and love.

  6. You know, it's really amazing how calm I've felt since Nancy announced they would begin the impeachment process. Deep, soul satisfying peace. I keep expecting it to pass, and it doesn't. It doesn't seem depemdant upon conviction.

  7. According to the e-mail newsletter from The Economist, the Tories won their greatest majority since 1987, while Labour suffered their most resounding defeat since 1935. They say Brexit is inevitable and another try for Scottish independence, highly likely. Terrible, terrible news!

    2. In a column about British TV coverage of the election:

"Highlights were few and far between. Lord Buckethead giving Boris Johnson the finger during the Uxbridge count gave the night a brief boost, but it soon faded in favour of more of the same."

OK, gotta find the Lord Buckethead clip...
