I neglected to mention yesterday that the big political news of the day is that Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel will not seek re-election. This will be the first time at least since the 1950s, maybe before, that an elected Chicago mayor has voluntarily left office.
I can't bear to watch or read about this Kavanaugh mess because I *know* the damned Republicans are going to shove him onto the court and set women back fifty years. Mostly I blame Mitch McConnell because he's dirty as he can be.
I was proud of Pat Leahy today, Susan. He was trying so hard to ask questions, but the chair has the committee tied up in knots. I signed his petition to insist that the papers be made public. Fat chance, though.
This Supreme Court thing is the whole reason the Republicans won't dis DT. They're selling their souls and America's soul too, for their selfish schemes.
Whom do you suppose is the NYT informant from the White House? Some suggest Pence (which would be new territory). My money is on Kelly, because I think he cannot stand that it's so chaotic and not at all ship shape. Herding cats who don't respect his voice is not how the rest of his life has gone. Could be he's got a patriotic streak he can't deny. Maybe.
Because the word "lodestar" is in the article many are thinking it is Pence. I think Pence is tired of waiting for Cheetolini to be removed so he can take over. I don't think Pence realizes that he's going to be in *almost* as much legal trouble as Cheetolini once the smoke clears.
As I suspected, folks here caught the day's White House Circus news before I did. But here are some related posts. --Alan (Who figures the auguries must have been pretty poor for Rahm Emanuel to throw in the rag.)
It is time to quit idling and pack my bag for Washington (State). Itinerary in good enough shape, printed in duplicate together with maps. As time permits, this evening or tomorrow morning, I shall start working seriously on my Art assignment due Wednesday next. (A stencil, to depict distance and maybe some other things; I will have to consult my notes.)
We have hibiscus planted on the south side of our house, in full sun--and they do marvelously.

ReplyDeleteI've had the feeling for quite a while that the job was kinda beyond him.

Oh, and I used the word "lodestar" (or was it lode star?) here the other day, so it must have been me. Or someone who follows this blog.
