Grand Dollhouse

Usually a non-stop talker, she was absolutely speechless and got teary-eyed!

She spent the next morning putting in the furniture.

  4. Here are three bills awaiting Jerry Brown's signature:

    Outlaw civil arrests in courthouses [Click] We're looking at you, ICE.

    Outlaw health insurance that doesn’t cover pre-existing conditions and provide Obamacare minimal coverage [Click] Several other states have done it by regulation, but California would be the first to do it by law.

    This sort of response makes me think of the runup to the Civil War, when the slave states learned the hard way that there was a limit to how far they could force the free states to do things their way (e.g., the Fugitive Slave Act).

    1. Oops--that last quotation goes with the next-to-last link. But the links work OK.

  5. listener said:
    "As I read The Calm Before the Storm I recalled DT's assertion this week that if the Dems win big in Nov, they will be 'violent.' No doubt it was projection. What he's really saying in Republican-ese is that if the Dems win big in Nov, HE will be violent."

    I doubt Trump is capable of physical violence (except perhaps to a woman); he is too cowardly. But I could well imagine him redoubling his efforts to incite others to violence. That makes me think of something Hitler did--or rather didn't. Although he could have had his chest plastered with medals; although he was entitled to a medal as leader of the National Socialist Party; the only award he ever wore was the German equivalent of a purple heart awarded for injuries he suffered in the Great War.

    1. Well, DT is a Sociopathic Malignant Narcissist. Cowardly, yes. But dangerously impulsive. We hear each week that he is getting more and more angry and difficult to be around. This sort of dangerous Narcissist doesn't settle down. And they don't give in. They go ballistic.

  6. WOW Susan!! You really did sew a dollhouse!!!

    {::: listener bows with respect. :::}

    But how does felt stand up like that? Is it two layers of felt with cardboard between?

    1. Yes, cardboard sandwiched between two felt pieces. Fortunately I love hand sewing. And I have an unlimited supply of free cardboard and just bought something like 20 yards of felt at the thrift store for pennies. Each floor and wall is stitched separately and then joined together.

    Here's another version of the story:
    Progressive Defeats Longtime Dem House Incumbent In Boston [Click] "Boston City Council member Ayana Pressley (D) has knocked off 10-term Rep. Michael Capuano (D-MA), the latest progressive insurgent to topple an establishment favorite in a primary this election cycle." Hey, she had a pretty good campaign slogan!

    The Second Redemption Court [Click] "Whether the Trump project, with its dehumanization of people of color, relentless corporatism, authoritarian vision of justice, and staggering personal corruption, comes to an end is a task for politics, not history. The arc of history does not bend toward justice on its own. It can be bent only by those with the power to do so. As Frederick Douglass once said, power concedes nothing without demand. Those who wish to see justice in their lifetime will have go to the polls and seize it."
