  3. Majority of Republicans believe sexual assault should not disqualify a person for the Supreme Court.

  4. On the NHK world news just now I saw some film clips of BK "testifying." To say that the man obviously lacks judicial temperament is a mind-boggling understatement.

    A Legitimacy Crisis Looms
September 28, 2018 at 6:25 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 174 Comments

Mike Allen: “If Kavanaugh is confirmed, Democrats could be expected to question the legitimacy of his swing Supreme Court vote. Congress degraded itself yesterday. And the Trump White House of course has serious credibility issues.”

“So the United States of America will be three-for-three in diminished trust in its branches of government.”

David Wasserman: “To Dems who can’t believe what they’re watching, remember: a majority of the Senate now represents 18% of the population and answers to a subset of voters that is considerably whiter, redder and more rural than the nation as a whole. That’s the reality of our times.”

    1. Alan, I'm sad Rep. Kiah Morris of Bennington County (southernmost part of VT, by MA) stepped down on Tuesday. Those were ONLINE threats (which could have come from outside Vermont) and our Attorney General is investigating them.

    1. The Committee vote was, predictably, 11Rs yes, 10Ds no.

    2. A week is nothing, but can BK take his seat on the SC after it has started its new session? No matter what happens, the investigations into his conduct will continue for some time.

    3. I wonder if there will be a surge of Democratic voter registrations beginning today. Maybe some early voter registration information and opinion polls will start popping up in a week.

    4. "A Term of the Supreme Court begins, by statute, on the first Monday in October. Usually Court sessions continue until late June or early July. The Term is divided between "sittings," when the Justices hear cases and deliver opinions, and intervening "recesses," when they consider the business before the Court and write opinions. Sittings and recesses alternate at approximately two-week intervals."

Sounds like he could be seated at least within two weeks or a month.

  8. Looks like Maryland is considering opening an investigation. Seems like they have "victim based" policy. Hope that works out, regardless of the rest.

    1. Thee is also no statute of limitations on such crimes in Maryland. Bet they could fund it with a GoFundMe campaign! I am pretty sure it would be historical for a sitting Supreme Court justice to be the object of a criminal indictment...

  10. https://www.palmerreport.com/analysis/fbi-not-going-kavanaugh-trump/13105/

"The FBI still only has a seven day window, but it’s hitting the ground running. It already has several hours of testimony from Ford, thanks to yesterday’s testimony. It already has the evidence, such as Kavanaugh’s calendar, that was submitted for the hearings. It already knows that Mark Judge is the key witness in that case. It already has the details that Deborah Ramirez and Julie Swetnick have made public."

And Julie Swetnick, introduced by Michael Avenatti, is especially compelling.
