  11. I don't know if it's fact but I saw that McConnell said that he would not seat Doug Jones, but would give the seat to Luther Strange. If it's true, can he do that?

    1. I don't think he can seat someone else. But he can refuse to seat Moore until an Ethics investigation takes place.

  14. 81% reporting in Alabama... Roy Moore has a 49.6-48.9% lead or 6,450 votes.

Most remaining votes are in urban, Jones friendly, areas. I think Jones will pull this out very narrowly.

"A president who would all but call Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand a whore is not fit to clean the toilets in the Barack Obama Presidential Library or to shine the shoes of George W. Bush.

This isn’t about the policy differences we have with all presidents or our disappointment in some of their decisions. Obama and Bush both failed in many ways. They broke promises and told untruths, but the basic decency of each man was never in doubt.

Donald Trump, the man, on the other hand, is uniquely awful. His sickening behavior is corrosive to the enterprise of a shared governance based on common values and the consent of the governed."

And! Today is the Jones' 25th wedding anniversary!!

  24. So, Joe Trippi finally won a big one.
Think he'll give me back my Dean button now? Ha!

  25. With 99% reporting they are 9,560 votes apart. Too close for comfort, but what a comfort it is, all the same.

  28. Oh this is funny. DT just tweeted a congratulatory note to Jones, but Moore hasn't yet conceded.

I half wonder if one of DT's "lawyers" wrote the tweet as it was fairly decent.

  31. Whoo hoo! A big jump just came in, and now Jones is 1.5 points ahead. That's 19,271 votes! YEAH!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. So get this...Moore's guy just said that there has to be a recount. But he also said it's how that's done is that if the vote is in 1/2 % there has to be a recount. But it's 1.5% Hmmm. He said the military votes haven't yet been counted. I do't understand that, because they should have been counted along with any other absentee ballots.

That &@# man keeps evoking god's name as if God is on his side. Grrrrrrrr. The God I know is not standing behind him. And I don't want to know his god.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Jones now has 50%!! And there actually is no ground to stand on for a recount.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Just looked at the results; with 100% of precincts reporting, Jones wins with 49.9%, Moore loses with 48.4%. (+1.5%) Woulda been better with a bigger difference, but +1.5% will do...

    1. Hi Alan! Great night!!! Celebrate!!! 🍾

  35. AL Sec of State, John Merrill says he's not comfortable with Moore or Moore's people coming to his office tonight. An automatic recount happens if the difference is 1/2 % or less. If Moore wants to have a recount anyway, he'll have to pay for it.

He does not anticipate the number of (provisional and other) ballots left to be authenticated to be enough to change the vote. The vote will likely be certified next Tuesday. But it must be completed between December 26th and January 3rd. Jones will be seated on January 3rd.

    1. And note: Even with the Pence tie-breaker, the Republicans can now only afford to lose *one* of their votes on the final tax bill. And coming up with something that 50 of 51 Republicans can stomach won't be easy.
