Feast of St. Lucia

  1. ❄️ Managed to eek out 5.8" of new snow (6.9" on the ground). It's freaking cold! 12F with wind gusts that make it feel Arctic. My super insulated gloves were no match for it. Numb fingers in 1/2 hour.

  2. Susan, I let Mah*Sweetie take my Mini this morning since it was in the garage. Good thing too. Turns out there's a layer of ice under the snow. His Fit is completely encased in ice, even though I got the snow off. But I was really humbled when I saw that my next door neighbour in her 80's had already been out to clean off her car and get her mail. She said she HAD to go out to a hair appointment. LOL!

    1. Yes! Nothing I hate more than standing outside in a subzero hurricane while scraping ice! Also the downer that you have to allow extra time before you're set to leave.

  3. Let me know when global warming progresses to the point that palm trees are planted along the streets of Burlington...[grin]

    1. Could be a bit sooner than you expect. Warming progresses faster in the Arctic than in the tropics.

    2. If we start getting palm trees, I am definitely moving to Canada, politics or no politics.

I would, however, cheer being able to have a Dogwood tree over-winter in my yard. I'm content until Black Widow Spiders begin to thrive here.

  4. Americans also see it as a "miracle"!

Alan, when you are posting something from the Washington Post (WAPO), please make a note of that, as I do not subscribe and can't simply go to the link and read. However, if it's from the WAPO, I can *Google* the title and then I'm allowed to read it.

  5. I don't subscribe to the WaPo or NYT, either, listener. When I post links to them I try to "prune" the URL so others like us can sneak past the paywall, and test it in one or two browsers; that was a particularly difficult one to figure out, though.

  6. I didn't know about googling past the paywall, though; I will experiment with that.

  7. Headed to Boston tomorrow to visit with my brother and his family, through Friday. We're going to Boston Pops (Boston Symphony Orchestra Christmas concert). I've never been to it before. It's going to be cold there, but a high of 32F tomorrow there while we'll have a high of 11F here, so no complaints! Ha!
