Boston at Christmastime

  1. Two days and only one comment.

Gosh, I leave town for a couple of days and ...

    LOL!

I hope everyone is getting their last things done for holly days and isn't laying on the floor in front of their TVs passed out from the last few news cycles!

  2. I've been trying to catch up all year. Making progress. Just reminded today that my one holiday chore is a Christmas letter and card for a few friends and relatives.

  3. Busier than the dickens at work; instrument(s) malfunctions Wednesday, about two days' work on Thursday, all day trip to the SF Bay Area for court today (we worked in some shopping in San Jose on the way back). Thinking about going with Naomi on a sketching outing to the zoo on Saturday, setting up Xmas tree Sat. or Sun., midday potluck on Sunday for sure. Not much chance of getting any yard work done.

Pretty typically for this area at this time of year, we have a high pressure zone and inversion layer which traps everything. Not a breath of wind. I cleaned the windows of my car (which is parked outside weekdays at work, and realized they had a light coating of soot--probably diesel exhaust. Burning is forbidden, and I haven't seen the fireplace soot we used to see. It has been hazy for days, getting slowly more so. It got worse and worse as we drove towards the Bay Area--pretty bad by the time we approached the freeway over the Altamont Pass, leading towards San Francisco. A lot better in the Bay Area proper. We got caught in the Friday PM rush hour going over the Pacheco Pass south of San Jose.
