  1. Howard is first.

Sorry for the uninspired title, Listener. You can change it to something appropriate. I just needed to put in something so the thread could be clicked on and opened.

Bill, Spotify has something to do with online playlists. I don't understand it and can't use it. BTW you most definitely *are* one of the cool kids!

Alan, I'm a big fan of lifelong learning. At the moment I'm working on children's books I missed in childhood, but eventually I'll move on to weightier matters. Not altogether sure I'll make it to Marx though. *wry grin*

    1. THANK-YOU, CAT!!!

I must have missed the step where I actually add the title. =Sigh= I guess that comes from posting too late at night.

  2. Alan, the name means "Sabbath Rest" and was the original holy city of the Hebrew tribes, before Jerusalem. As he was our third child, we thought a little "Sabbath Rest" might be a good thing. Ha! This was 1978, and we decided that the one name we agreed on Shiloh Autumn could actually work for either gender (he was born October 5th). I guess these days both names are considered more often for girls. But back then neither was common.

Eldest's name is Jaime Matthew. He was born June 4th and that same Summer the show The Bionic Woman came out starring Jaime Sommers. So after that the Spanish spelling for James was used mostly for girls. Argh!

    1. I Like James Matthew very much. not sure about Jaime, but then I've always had an illogical dislike of many non-anglicized forms of given names. It doesn't make any sense and I can recognize it as a prejudice, but there it is.

On the other hand, no doubt because I've always disliked my own given name, Kerry, I greatly prefer the Irish form thereof, which is Ciari. As far as I can remember it's pronounced more or less 'Kee-yay-ree. I have to admit, albeit reluctantly, that it would cause a *whole* lot more problems than Kerry ever did. Of course, I could use it on the inner tubes, where people use all kinds of names and handles, some of which are unpronounceable. But Phil used Ciari as a sort of pet name or endearment, so for several years even thinking about it was extremely painful. That's why I use the (misspelled) Scottish form Catreona. I like it. It's pretty and it is, like Kerry, a diminutive of Katherine. And it's Celtic. And I like the short form Cat.

  3. Good Lord! This evening, armies, armadas, flotillas, squadrons of teeny tiny millers have made it their bidness to make me miserable--fly in eyes, die in coffee, climb up and down your arms, legs, neck, hair, ear canals, nostrils. Ick ick ick ick.
