Somehow we had a volunteer cherry tomato plant get started in a flower bed on the south side of the house three or four years ago, and it continues to reproduce itself every year. I'm not sure if it is breeding true, but the tomatoes are still good as well as plentiful, and the plant takes care of itself.
I think I did a good job for the San Diego Public Defender this morning (they put me up in a restored 1920 hotel just a short walk from the courthouse--very nice), then took a fairly long hike (that did my legs good) downhill to the Trolley, stopped off at the Navy base for conferences with defense and prosecution attorneys and to overhear a phone conference with opposing counsel's toxicology expert (he sounds OK), then back onto the trolley and to the airport by another hotel's free shuttle, and here I am. [Do I get the day's prize for most run-on sentence?]
My plane's departure has been delayed from 9:15 PM to 10:28PM. It's air conditioned and frankly cool here in the air terminal, but that's a VERY nice change. Outside it has been hot and humid all day--not too far from a steam bath. It was looking like rain, but it didn't.
You *do* get the prize, Alan! I view the ability to write a long, coherent sentence as a sign of intelligence. :-)
I so appreciate all your stories and anecdotes! I come here sometimes just hoping there's a new note from you, because they're always so interesting. I find the work you do intriguing, and enjoy hearing of your varied travels. It's all part of the ordinary flow of life, but to hear of it ongoingly reveals substance.
Hoping Bill is having a good time while away!
Cat, I'm no fan of barbed wire, either. I think it was once used routinely between farms, and this here's farming land. :-)
puddle, thanks for the note about the Link (vs Photo). Heartglad it works anyway!!
I'm flattered, listener. Surely our differences are one of the things that brings us all back here. I find others's posts (yours most certainly included) to be interesting glimpses into different lives as well.
We had a volunteer a few years ago, but they don't usually keep on in our cold climate. There's nothing like a fresh tomato, though! We were given some this week by the good folks who keep the big veggie garden at the Library!
Howard would be first! (And last, and in between. . . . )
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of barbed wire. But, even so, that's a nice photo.
ReplyDeleteHad the first of the year's cherry tomatoes in tonight's salad. Firm, not mushy or grainy, and a bit sweet. Very nice.

Regarding tomatoes...

The ground doesn't freeze here; I expect tomato seeds would be hard pressed to survive that.
