OUR ROOTS!!
Not only is this photo OUR roots because they belong to a tree that is quite old, which sits on the site of a Revolutionary War battle in Massachusetts, but I picked this photo to remind us of OUR roots because Governor Howard Dean's records from his time in office in Vermont have just been unsealed, and they chronicle his transition from Governor to Presidential Candidate. There's a related article: If you don't see a photo of Howard Dean, click on "purchase photo" and you'll get to see it large. ;-) Click here to see the article.
Rooted in DEAN!
ReplyDeleteAs I drove up the Vermont interstate today I noted that all one really sees is beautiful scenery and road signs (no billboards and no ugly scenes anywhere, of course). What I realised is that there really are a LOT of signs that say "Bear crossing", "MOOSE - stay alert", Deer crossing, and "Falling Rock" (and in the southbound lane there is actually some recently fallen rock!). I hope my guest from Los Angeles, who is driving up from Boston this weekend, doesn't get scared away! Ha!
ReplyDeleteCat, see my note to you on the last thread. =^. .^=
ReplyDeleteTom Kitty is still here. I have no idear for how long. The way everybody was talking, I expected him to be gone when I got up today. I don't understand what's going on. If we're going to keep him, he needs to have his operation; but his appointment, which had been for this morning, got canceled. I'm sure many of the socializing problems would diminish if not go away altogether if he had his operation... And it's hard, not knowing if he's safe and I can relax or if at a moment's notice he'll be gone. I mean, if Dad wants to keep him, then keep him and make it final. If not, then don't and get it over with.
ReplyDeleteHe's such a sweet baby. I went in to talk to him last night before going to bed. He was sitting in his favorite window in the dining room, looking out at the snow. I'm not sure how much we got, something around six inches or a little less. It was pretty in the stright lamp light, all smooth and undisturbed. So, we looked out for a while. Then I tried to give him a kiss on the top of the head and he said, "YUCK!" and scampered away. Typical boy. But he came back and the last I saw of him last night, he was sitting up again looking out the window. Thought that would be the last I saw of him ever. But I'm told he's still here. Haven't actually seen him, but both Mum and Sis say so.It's a relief, even though I know it's just a reprieve.
My sympathies go out to you. Not knowing is hard -- I see a need for better communication. And I agree that the operation would probably -- not certainly make Mr. Tom less aggressive.
DeleteWish I could offer to take him in. But aside from getting him here, I suspect he and Morticia would not get along.
DeleteAwh, thanks for the thought, Bill, even though it's not workable.
DeleteThank you, Listener and Puddle♥
ReplyDeleteCraig's List is a fine idear! I'll mention it to Dad. Thanks, Puddle.
I suspect that anyone willing to take in Mr. Tom would want him "fixed" first. But some groups will provide that for free. Worth a try.
DeleteOh, I just glanced out the window to find that it has started snowing., nice, big, fluffy flakes. Sorry for all t he people it will inconvenience, but I always enjoy watching snow fall.
ReplyDeleteDay started with a bit of snow, and ice falling from tree branches onto the roof. Snow now all gone, sky perfectly blue, and about 40ยบ. Trying to figure this weather out will drive you mad!
ReplyDeleteIs there any particular reason you need to figure it out? Life in general is maddening enough without worrying about the weather.
DeleteNot all the time, lol! But when the dog needs food, and one is trying to figure out a window for getting to town. Which is a 40 minute drive each way, over roads which may or may not be plowed. No public transportation as an alternative.
DeleteAh, gotcha. It's a purely practical, logistical problem, not a philosophical one.
