Two Butterflies

One year ago today we said good-bye to Emma Beautiful Cat.  Still miss her.

  1. Howard is most certainly first. Again. And always.

Hard to be missing our lost loved companions. Amazing how they get into your heart, eh?

Stevie made a great escape last night, lol! After a week of scarcely moving from his bath mat, he was waiting outside the kitchen door this morning. And came back on his own when I put his food down. Alas, he's hardly eating at all. Still, he purrs mightily when I pet him, so. . . . He does NOT seem to be in pain -- just fading. Hard stuff.

  2. We are back from our visit with Naomi just on general principles, to return her cat, and to do a bit of shopping. All's well. The cell phone game company she is working for is growing insanely. 2.5 years ago she was hired as employee No. 26. Not long ago they went over 200 employees. The boss announced last week they are aiming for 300 by some time in the very near future that escapes me. November? Something like that. A fair number of them will probably come from a similar company that croaked and laid off a hundred people. (Which is a warning in and of itself.) And the job she has didn't exist when she started college…

Weather has cooled off wonderfully here.

    1. Sounds like a good visit. :-)

My godson in California is studying gaming. In high school he would try out a new game, then send detailed feedback to the company. He wants to test games as a profession,,,and he's not just "sloughing" when he says that. :-)

  3. Hope she keeps up: the competition can be brutal (says the ex-wife of an electronics engineer)(He went to Carnegie Tech and learned all about tubes. Never designed one thing with tubes in it; had to teach himself on his own all about transistors, etc.) But sounds like she's doing more than fine!!

We're heating up after a sweet cool August. Go figure.

  4. ♥ listener. I still miss my Brady boy. He was *such* a good friend.

Perkins is a good friend, too. I was busy freaking out about teaching today, and didn't have time to take Perkins for a walk or play with him this morning. He pretty much Velcro-ed himself to my side as I was getting ready.

My classes went *okay*. Nothing unsalvageable happened. But the whole day seemed to be some sort of homage to Murphy's Law. I'm tired now. But I did take Perkins for a little walk. And then Winnie. Because dem's da rules.

    1. Thanks, Renee, ♥

Sounds like the best part of the day was thanks to the Rules of Dogdom!

  5. I posted about our pet rats not to long ago. My brother Paul's girlfriend commented on Facebook that she missed having rats, and still has a really nice cage that she'd like to put to good use, but "with the move coming up soon, it doesn't make sense to get new pet rats right now. I thought, but didn't reply, "I'm pretty sure your roommate would be cool with the idea of getting pet rats." Paul had a pet rat of his own some years ago.

I mentioned that to him when he was here the other day, and he noted that he and Lara had a discussion after she made that comment, and told her, as I'd expected, that he was quite open to the idea--the only concern being that of keeping them safe from his cat.
