Odd, the way our days get configured. I've been almost out of water for a few days. Yesterday was intended to be water/pump/river day. To that end, changed my meds so I wouldn't be sleepy/nauseated in the morning. Was up and ready to begin, when. . . . Beau managed another of his miraculous escapes (pulled head out from his collar). So whilst he was cavorting in the river, I got my buckets and got some water. Process worked predictably: Mr Curious came to help. Was further lured with some kibble, and capture achieved.
Outcome: I had enough water for several more days, and my store of energy was in total deficit state. And it's going to rain (muddy water) for the next few. Plus who wants to have pump/electrical out in the rain?
The birthday girl, VT*Grand, is here for an overnight. We had strawberry cake (so pink), ice cream cake (homemade reshaped ice cream!), pizza and gifts. We found her a beautiful fleece jacket in purple with green trim sporting red strawberries (and made in Vermont!), and a wind up jewelry box with a kitten theme (even has a little kitten that turns inside!) and it plays “Ode to Joy.” It’s 5 drawers are stuffed with hair ribbons and barrettes!
So then her Daddy left for home, and she had a nap, storybook, made up story, then I sang her three songs and she was out. Sooo sweet! We always begin with our special song: You Can Close Your Eyes by James Taylor. I change a few of the lines slightly. So it goes like this:
Well the sun is surely sinking down But the moon is slowly rising So this old world must still be spinning 'round And I still love you
So close your eyes You can close your eyes, it's all right Because of you I sing love songs And I don’t sing sad songs anymore But I can sing this song And you can sing this song when I'm gone
It won't be long before another day We;re gonna have a good time And no one's gonna take that time away You can play as long as you like
So close your eyes You can close your eyes, it's all right Because of you I sing love songs And I don’t sing sad songs anymore I just sing this song And you can sing this song when I'm gone
Vivat Dean!
ReplyDeleteI miss Oscar too. I hope he's doing well.
I am not a fan of the genre, and can not say if this is correct--but it certainly is memorable! (Courtesy of The New Yorker.)
"All Southern literature," the mother of the writer Pat Conroy once told him, "can be summed up in these words:
'On the night the hogs ate Willie, Mama died when she heard what Daddy did to Sister.'"
Why does my warped mind keep trying to work Mitt Romney into that, somehow or other? Guess I answered that myself; warped.
We head up to the Bay Area tomorrow to visit with Naomi and take our grandcat back home.

Dat boy is a heap o' work and no mistake! Sure hope he cuddles good to compensate!
DeleteOh, he's a joy, without doubt! Just reconfigures stuff, a lot, lol!
