It's Spay Day :-(

Mizzen & Spinnaker go to the vet this morning to be spayed.  I feel immense "mother guilt" about it, even though I know it's best for them in the long run.  But they don't understand that.  I did make arrangements to leave work early to pick them up, so they won't have to stay at the vet's overnight.  By the way, the bear's name is Spencer.  He's the bear Mah*Sweetiie brought me when I had surgery.

Well, I dropped off two famished, forlorn kitties and now they are going through the pre-surgery tests. As I was walking out to my car I saw them pick up Spinnaker to start testing. Feels like abandonment and betrayal! These next 8 hours can't pass too swiftly! =^. .^= =^. .^=

  6. Wonderful, LONG, talk with Thankful last night!! (About five hours, lol!) Need that woman!

Coolish and cloudy, have a load of wash in the tub (not river this time), all Stevie's towels and rugs. Running low, so a must do. Promised rain has so far escaped us (for three days now), so not going to worry about it.

Been wondering *why* the Republicans have turned into such BIG liars. My memory tells me that it wasn't always so. I think that Ryan's lying and Romney's lying stem from different sources, though it meshes well at the top. Ryan's seems to be the lying that *troo believers* tell themselves; Romney's more from the privilege of the privileged never to be corrected. By anyone. So the allegations seem to be really *shocking* and *unfair* to them both. . . . Wish I could pity them, but they're too dangerous to be pitied.

James Baldwin posited, long ago, that the oppressor *never* understands the oppressed the way the oppressed understands the oppressor. Because it is *life or death* to know what your master is likely to do. For the master -- you simply do what you wish, and justify it however you need to to think of yourself as a fine upstanding human being.

I'm surprised you didn't get the rain, puddle, having seen the radar over WVA!

Negative bounce. I like that concept on so many levels.

    1. Arrived at the vet at 5:00pm and got home (a 6 minute ride) a little before 6:00pm. It's a bit athletic keeping tabs on them, since they're not supposed to do much climbing or jumping, and they're definitely not supposed to lick their wounds. So far, so good, though due diligence is the order of the day.

It's a really good thing we didn't leave the kitties at the vet's overnight! They had the packages labelled correctly for dosage, but had put the filled syringes into the wrong packages!! We caught it right away, because we're so used to all the dosing we did before. But what if we hadn't? And what if whomever was dosing the animals tonight just assumed the package was correct? Spinnaker gets the larger dose due to being bigger. =Sigh=

But wow! In just 15 minutes, Mizzen went from growly to purring and treading to fast asleep! Good stuff!

  9. Esme had a better day today, eating and drinking and moving all over the house, upstairs and down. She isn't exactly perky at any time, but she's definitely here. Thanks for the Light, Puddle. Please keep it coming. It helps!

Pres. Carter gave a lovely address. He's seeming pretty frail though. I think he was wise to do his thing via video. The convention would have been too much for him.

Nice film about Teddy Kennedy. Got me pretty choked up.

S'pose Pres. Clinton will speak tomorrow night? Want to see that one.

The new reading machine came today, but very late in the afternoon. We'll set it up tomorrow. Can't wait!!!

    1. You all won't believe this, but until I read Cat's post here I was unaware that the Dem Convention was underway. Silly me.

I'm heartglad to hear that Esme had a better day! May all our kitties have a good day tomorrow!

President Carter is my favourite of all the Presidents of my lifetime.

Don't forget to come back and tell us!! Ha!

  10. The Democratic and Republican presidential candidates answer Science questions:

    http://www.sciencedebate.org/debate12/

I know I should be a responsible citizen and read every word of every answer by both candidates. But, I can't. Romney's answer to the Climate change question is entertaining after a fashion. He tries to have it both ways: He personally thinks Global Warming is a problem and human activity contributes thereto, but he's not a scientist and the question hasn't yet been settled by scientists. So, we need to keep studying it because there isn't really any proof. And so on. But two questions was as much as I could take. Sorry for being so shallow.

    1. Renee...LOL! Well, my thanks to you and Perkins for stopping by to keep vigil with me. :-)

    2. I am having SUCH a bad brain day today. Perkins really really wanted to go outside, and I had indicated to him that I was, indeed, getting ready to take him outside. But then I got distracted by a comment my friend Jeff made on Facebook, and absent-mindedly put the leash on WINNIE instead of Perkins. Well, I couldn't take it back OFF of her at that point, but Perkins was flipping out. I could hear his claws on the door as I closed it behind us.

He DID get his walk--and a longer one than Winnie's as he has more energy to burn.
