Ayup, ayup, ayup…
ReplyDeleteGlad everyone is OK, listener. I once saw a car burn up; it was a conflagration within ten or fifteen seconds of the time the driver and passenger bailed out…
I just saw the DNC speeches of Elizabeth Warren and Sandra Fluke. Warren was OK, but as she talked about all the things the president was in favor of, I found myself thinking of abandoning the right of habeus corpus, failure to prosecute torturers, and sheltering terrorists. I doubt either of them wrote her own speech (more's the shame), but Ms. Fluke's delivery was very accomplished; it speaks well of Georgetown Law and of Cornell. Made a good case, she did.
And now to bed, later than I should.

Thanks, Alan. Yes, we were very lucky indeed. We figured out how it transpired and we figure that the trouble began with a sharp turn, which caused a wire to stretch, which caused a short. This happened on our way to the garden centers, when we stopped at the dump to drop off some yard waste. The car smoked a little bit that time, but Sweetie figured it was just a short and nothing more. (You have to understand it was a truck known for recent issues.) But the real trouble came when we made a sharp U turn to get to the third garden center. That same wire must have had all it could take. We drove another mile or so before we came to the third garden center, and it's likely the engine was a little on fire that whole mile. When we stopped, the breeze stopped too, so now the smoke stayed there and could be seen. When he first saw the smoke and said, "My truck is on fire!" I thought he was joking a little and the same short had happened again as before. But he dove behind the driver's seat and dug beneath his boat bag and foulies, bags of this n that and past power tools to get to our 15 year old fire extinguisher! At least Sweetie knew better than to open the hood without a fire extinguisher in hand! He'd never used one before, but two puffs and the basketball size fire was out. By then the garden center guy had arrived with an even bigger fire extinguisher just incase. I can't believe that while all of that was going on I was calmly picking out bushes! LOL!
DeleteDon't know what's the matter with me today. Got up at 8:30, back to bed at 9:30, slept until 1:20 p.m. And I'm ready to go back to bed! Don't know whether I should roll with it and sleep or fight it off and work.
ReplyDeleteTrust what your body is telling you. Sleep all you need; you'll have twice the energy tomorrow! ♥
DeleteI agree with listener. If you *don't* feel better tomorrow, it may be time to see the doctor.
