  2. I don't recall any of our cats sleeping on their backs. They always seem to curl up.

  3. Whew ~~ spent the morning into afternoon over at the old computer. Can't figure out how to transfer data over from the old one with the thumb drive. I did it before, with zero coaching and no problem, but doesn't look like that's going to happen again.

In the process of being there for long, I realized that a *lot* of the problems I'd been attributing to the modems aren't. Evidently the Derecho when it knocked out the lines for 24 hours, did something else. . . . And we're back to the pre-Frontier lines. . . Will have to call them about the noise, static, and disconnects. . . .

From my earthlink start page: (about the ACA)

Overall, spending cuts and tax increases in Obama's law more than offset new spending,

Repealing the law, as Republicans want to do, would increase the deficit by $109 billion from 2013 to 2022.

    1. Is Derecho something I missed while I was gone? Don't recognize the term.

    2. The straight line giant wind event that knocked out power for several million people from Ohio through to DC. WV and Va were particularly hard hit. My power was out for ten days. Phone only out a day, though. And the line sounds fine to talk on -- it's its data carrying function that seems to be having problem.

Tornado -- turning wind; Derecho -- direct wind. The second, much rarer than the first. Wonder why we name our weather in Spanish?

    3. We just call those "straight-line winds" here in the Midwest. You'll recall that there was one of those here in the Chicago agea when I was on my way to an SF convention -- was it two years ago? Not as violent as a toronado, though. Winds around 80-90 miles an hour, but still enough to down power poles.

    4. I think this one was notable in that it took out so MUCH in so many states -- between here and VA it took out eleven poles, and 10 or 11 of those sky tree transmission thingamajigs. Turns out that Mon Power had *hundreds* of poles down. We had three different trees on lines here, just up my road. They'd come clear it, think they were done, and the next storm took out another one.

  4. Demetrius is off picking Son up from work. After that, I need to make a run up to the shelter to see if they can give me a copy of Perkins' medical records. During one of his escape episodes, both his rabies tag and his Franklin County Dog License were lost.

    1. Ooh! Most decidedly not good. I hope they give you the records without any hassle, Renee!

  5. What a cute kitty! Are you sure the caption shouldn't be: "Rub my tummy!"

She looks a lot like our Nickie. Is this Mizzen or Spinnaker?

    1. This is Spinnaker. She's showy and "out there" in front.

Mizzen is smaller and less showy, but focused and fits the concept of a "wind rudder" nicely! Ha!

  6. Holding my own after holding the bowl earlier today for littlest Grand, who apparently had a 36 hour stomach flu. Counting down to see if we get it too. Should know by sometime Thursday. Heh. They are all back in Maine now and she's feeling LOTS better! Hurrah!

  7. Same here, Bill...until now.
I think she was curled up, and started to turn over, but fell asleep part way. LOL!
