Blue Shadows

Okay! Who else is voting tomorrow?

15 comments:

  1. I'd sneak over and vote for Howard Dean if I could...

    Super Tuesday states:
Primaries: Georgia, Massachusetts, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Vermont and Virginia.
Caucuses: Alaska, Idaho, and North Dakota.

I think your stomach is telling you to get a little something into it, listener. Not much, mild, and not greasy.

  3. Tomgram: Stephan Salisbury, Weaponizing the Body Politic
"Government budgets at every level now include allocations aimed at fighting an ephemeral “War on Terror” in the United States. A vast surveillance and military buildup has taken place nationwide to conduct a pseudo-war against what can be imagined, not what we actually face. The costs of this effort, started by the Bush administration and promoted faithfully by the Obama administration, have been, and continue to be, virtually incalculable."

  4. I haven't seen Downton Abbey, but have heard a some about it. Here is a review of it, with another series with some similarities:

Now to finish a short story (Richard Harding Davis' The God of Coincidence), and to bed later than I should.

  5. Got a blizzard going on here. Well, not really -- not much wind. But pretty serious snowfall -- most serious of this winter. . . . Canceled/rescheduled blood draw, and windshield wiper repair (since I'll now be in town tomorrow morning).

Beau was out from about seven to seven thirty this morning, and came in with a half inch of snow on him.

  6. Love this: this is my sister's princess granddaughter, Eva, at a friend's house, making a snow angel in a white fur rug. . . .

  7. Another type of megavitamin therapy called into question; more than dietary amounts of vitamin E reported to promote osteoporosis:

  8. Cute photo, puddle--definitely a keeper. Would I be correct to guess she might be around four years old?

Haven't really decided whether it's worth voting in this primary. Aside from the interminable judicial races, the only contested race is for state representative. And nothing I see suggests that the challenger (who I would not support) has much of a chance.

If I did vote, it wouldn't necessarily be tomorrow. The actual primary is March 20, of course, but early voting is now open.

  10. Took a while to track that down, Alan. It appears that they only used alpha-tocopherols, and no indication of whether of not they are synthetic or natural. Nor any indication that they're aware of the difference. Only got the abstract, as I'm unwilling to pay the $18. But I'm not overly impressed.

Ever read Arthur Koestler's Case of the Midwife Toad? Eye opener.

  11. What a day! Woke at 7:30, cleared about two inches of snow off the car, came back in. Cleared about half and inch of snow off of Beau. Called, canceled apt; made new one. Called garage, and canceled tomorrow since that's when my new blood draw is. Rescheduled for Wednesday. Kept snowing. Around noon, four or maybe five inches. Then it quit, the sun came out and the wind was blowing snow off the branches. Friend of Nancy's came and plowed all the way up the mountain with his ATV. The roads and fields melted so much it almost didn't look like much of a snow. High today, maybe 33º, dropping now again. And it's snowing again. Leaving at nine tomorrow come Hell or Highwater. Tired of messing around wit this.

  12. Slowly better today.

I can eat ANYTHING without nausea. The problem is that my abdomen is still sore from the event, giving me the feeling that I have to be careful about what I consume.

My favouite meal today was fresh spinach in the micro for two minutes with pine nuts and a very light sprinkling of vinegar.

  14. My opinion of that review is: cynical and rather harsh.

Downton Abbey is a gorgeous production, with some interesting twists and surprises in it, it's second season was better than I was expecting, and I am looking forward to the third season.

Could the reviewer write something better? The show he is hawking as better hasn't even showed yet.

See Downton Abbey, when you can, Alan.
