Should apologize for not getting back to answer the questions about the restaurant meal. We had octopus for an appetizer -- very nicely seasoned. And the lemon-rice soup was complimentary. I had shrimp stuffed with crabmeat, Marc had Lake Superior whitefish seasoned with lemon and oregano, and Penny had chicken breast stuffed with feta cheese and I forget what else. The wine was a Greek white wine whose name I can't hope to remember. Smooth and full-bodied with just a hint of sweetness. Exactly right for the shrimp.
Thanks, Bill! I'm not partial to anything on the list except maybe that lemon-rice soup (was it hot or cold?) and the wine, though I thought your description very appetising. Sounds like Marc had a nice birthday repaste!
We are actually supposed to get a little snow today, and coldish temps today and tomorrow. Beginning Sunday, however, we'll be in the 50's all week! And it's still Winter!!
All reasonably well here. Yesterday the fourth day without either crutches or cane, and I began to wean myself off the knee brace. Getting along well with Agatha Christie's Secret Adversary. This is my weekend to work at the hospital.
Bright and blue, but not near so warm as they said. Ah well -- add another layer! Am about to be off for the doc's appt. Nice day to be doing something! Cheers, see ya'll later.
Great news from my bloodwork! Lowest fasting blood sugar I've *ever* had (well, since they begin testing for it) 85. Potassium is right up there in the normal range, which had worried us both a lot: I seem to have problems metabolizing potassium. It was a *lot* of work to get it up there. But better than an IV, to say the least.
But the true miracle is my HDL. I've always run in the twenties, as does most of my family that I know about. Occasionally upper thirties, but never near fifty. After a year of D3 at the 10,000 IU/day level, it was 82. Check this out: http://www.trackyourplaque.com/blog/2008/08/vitamin-d-and-hdl.html
Also saw the heads of the foodbank (who have flu/pneumonia), and donated $5. Eve's the Deaniac who turned me on to Howard. She and hubby both maxed out on donations, but I wrote more letters, lol!
I feel very good! And very very happy.
And everyone at the doc's thinks I look terrific. But that's just icing, really.
Hey! If I understand the calendar correctly, Demetrius will have all of Monday to work on the car. Surely that's enough time to fix a measly single car?
For the national convention, we should remember that credentials fights are nothing new or unusual. The author mentions the 1972 Democratic Convention. And we missed one in 2008 only because the result wouldn't have mattered. Plus, as a teen I was quite amused by what took place with the Virgin Islands delegation at the 1952 Republican Convention.
think we could see something like 1952? I somehow doubt it.
Yes, the state conventions could be interesting. If only the media could be persuaded to pay attention to what's actually important. Although at one point the article seems to mix delegates who will go to the convention unbound with those currently being attributed to one candidate or another who in fact have not even been selected. It may be worth noting that the Democratic Convention will actually have a much higher proportion of unbound delegates than the Republican Convention will.
Yes, it was a nice birthday dinner for Marc. The lemon-rice soup was hot. And we all agreed that the whitefish, seasoned with lemon and oregano, was particularly good.

Gotta, just *gotta* be good, Bill, lol! I lurv stuff like that. . . . sucker for names that I am. Watched the worst movie but one in my life because I *adored* (and still do) the NAME. The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea. Visually it was pretty. And a couple of smokin' love scenes, but on the whole, weird and without point. But oh that name!
Not quite. She forgot all about everything else when she learned we've signed her up for Dance/Gymnastics classes...which begin tomorrow morning!! She got to open a very special gift from her Aunt/Godmother (our Daughter)...two fancy leotards with matching footless tights. One is pink animal print and the other is black with shiny red swirls throughout.
Everyone knows who's first. It's still Howard!

Republican convention could be incredibly interesting:

Things could get very interesting even earlier, at the state conventions:

Pass the popcorn!

ReplyDeleteNa. Republicans by their *very nature* are not interesting. And I *like* watching ants.
ReplyDeleteOnce again, trouble with the login stuff.
ReplyDeleteThought I'd share this. It works best in full screen. For reasons that will become obvious pretty quickly, I plan on deleting the video pretty soon.
(It's the first video on the page--I had trouble with direct linking earlier.)

Niacin hadn't worked; Omega 3 fishoil hadn't worked. . . .

ReplyDeleteSure. If the weather is good and everything goes perfectly. And he doesn't somehow have yet another day of revisions to one of his projects.

ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful, Puddle!!! ♥

ReplyDeleteWe want pink cupcakes!
Wanted to mention the name of the dessert snacks Penny bought me at Trader Joe's. The name is, "this fig waled into a bar ...."

ReplyDeleteNot this time. Jam Tea Cakes instead!! :-)
ReplyDeleteDid they elicit a Prince Grampy song?
ReplyDeleteI actually saw that movie way, way back when. Not sure I would call it "worst but one," but agree it was hard to see the point.
ReplyDeleteAs we were waiting for our showing, the peeps coming out kept saying: go turn your tickets in now. . . .
