  3. So howcum everybody's so bizzy on this cold arsed day?

Just fished the Goobey out from under the porch. I don't think I'm going to be able to wait for the kid to fix this, so hoping for some slightly warmer days next week. Never did see a dog who loved being under a porch as much as this one, lol! And thank goodness: no rain to drip down my neck!

  4. Other positive: it was daylight still, so didn't have to maneuver with a flashlight in my mouth.

  5. Hallloooooo!!

Got up early and went to work at the Book Mine. First task was to shovel away the 9" of snow from the front walk and entrance. It was about 4 degrees at the time with a bit of wind. Meanwhile ol' Grandad was doing Granddaughter*VT duty. After work she was still with us, then we met her Mom for dinner. Home now and at least -2F. Brrrr.

  6. What would happen if you left him under there for a long while? Can you obtain a rope for him that is tangle proof?

  7. Lightweight, tangle-resistant dog rope:

  8. I so wish, lol! He'd chew right through it. The cable doesn't tangle on its own: he *wraps* it around the various things stored under the porch, including 2 x 12s, and 4 x 4s, etc. The cord would be great when you are *with* him, and I'm bookmarking it, thanks!

  9. Whew! That's a heckuva way to start a "book mine" job. Thinking mebbe they need a caretaker? As in: guy. You know: the ones wit the big muscles?

  10. We six staffers offer the community full service. I even collect and take out the trash on Thursday nights. But we do have the Library cleaned once a week by two local high school boys.

We do have a small snowblower, but I sure wasn't going to blow snow around on a day that cold with the wind whipping.

  11. Hmmm, sounds like you need some of that nice lattice to go around the base of the porch. ;-)

  13. As my 2 year old Granddaughter would say, 'Oh, man!"

  14. Lol! That was my original plan. Kid decided to use what lumber we had on hand. . . . He was just more hopeful about the height than I was.

I was so bizzy because I had a meeting this afternoon, one segment of what is a two-day meeting for those most involved. Never got to the agenda item that would mostly involve me -- it'll be handled by a conference call a bit later. Probably better anyway, since that should involve my department head (who wasn't there) as well as the division head and a couple of truly big honchos for this World Science Fiction convention. But there was one agenda item they did get to where I was able to make a contribution and my willingness to make the effort was recognized.

  16. That sounds like a long day with a lot of waiting in it.
I'm glad your contribution and presence was recognised.
