Our old fashioned tree

  1. So sorry for the late posting! Last night I set photos to post every day from now through New Year's. But somehow I left out the 14th! All set now.

And all this while, Howard Dean was still First.

  2. Sooo, Youngest to the rescue! :-) After working hard to make Mah*Sweetie's Christmas gift, I hit a serious snag this week. However! Youngest has the remedy and is even willing to do the work of fixing the snag himself...and today!!! Ahhhhhhhhh~ I am nearly there. :-D Soooo happy!!!

  3. Glad that it's going to work for you!

I realized last week that there would be no spirit trees this year. . . . Between the chaos of the puppy destruction, and the many visits of the kid (where "piles" had to be scooped up and stored out of the way), the basic supplies for making them are sooooooooooo disturbed and intermixed, that there is no hope of sorting them out before Christmas, much less making ONE. . . .

Kind of got lost this year. And am going to give myself a pass. Tokens only this year, I guess.

  4. I have turned into an awful person. Today a telephone volunteer called for our Senator to try to get me to pledge a certain amount to his campaign before the end of the month. I told her I would donate to him online before the deadline. Did that shut her up? No. "Well, would you pledge $75?" No. "Well, would you pledge $50?" No. I told her that I'd already said to her that I would donate online and wasn't willing to specify a particular amount. SHE WOULD NOT SHUT UP!!!. She just kept trying to hondle me and talking over me. And I lost it and instead of just hanging up I shouted at her. "GOD! JUST SHUT UP! STOP TALKING!", and *then* I hung up.

  5. I don't know how it works with the phone callers, but when I canvassed for MaryPIRG, we got a percentage of the pledges, donations. Otherwise, just minimum wage. If that's what was happening, getting you to pledge to HER, was her dinner. . . .

But no, I don't think you're awful. I think our *system* is awful.

  7. Susan, I'd have bought tickets to that! You merely said what everyone thinks at times like that, and it's about time they got some spot-on feedback! Don't lose a minute of sleep over it.

  8. Mah*Sweetie said he'd have shouted that she'd changed his mind and they weren't getting a donation after all. ;-)
