Brightening...

  1. Howard's still the very most firstiest!

And what a lovely tree, listener; both lit and unlit!

Almost makes me wish I was putting one up this year. But not a chance! Just my littles.

  2. I hear you, puddle. We didn't have one last year, and I missed it. I love that this one grew naturally, never tree-farm-trimmed. It looks so much more like trees used to.

I'm hearing ice pelting the window. Sure wish I could have put my car into the garage that we cleaned out. But Mr. Chippy Halftail has a hankering to build a nest in my warm engine; and although I had thwarted him by covering over his entry point, I need to open the bonnet/hood each day to remove that cover before leaving. Only, the last time I went to open the bonnet/hood to put the cover on, the release latch spring gave way and it's stuck closed until I can get it fixed. It's still under warranty, but I can't get the work done until the NEW Mini Dealer for VERMONT (first one in Vermont!) opens near here in January. Otherwise it's a 4 hour drive (each way) down by Albany. Silly Mr. Halftail...!

  3. Youngest had difficulty with the editing attempt tonight, so I need to bring him my originals to scan. Hmmm. I'm concerned about that because I did the cropping and photo-editing myself before this. Sigh. Stay tuned. I'm coming down to the wire!

  5. Got to town: Got Stevie his shot (I think the last one); paid my car insurance; grocery shopped a little; and got half of my prescriptions. The other half we had a misunderstanding about, and I have to call tomorrow when she's back in the office. And the windshield wipers broke on the way home. In the rain. Luckily the kid had rainXed the front window.

The good news is Stevie is clearly feeling a lot better. The bad news is, he's still unable to get up on his feet: he just drags his butt. Noticed an abrasion on one toe. Got some first aid cream on it. I think this shot will get him past Christmas and into the new year, but I don't think I can ask him to stay too much longer than that. Prolly too long as it is.

  6. It's always hard, puddle. My M.J. died Labor Day of 2010. She was only a few weeks away from her 19th birthday. Kidney failure.

  7. I agree. I remember losing Rudi while Edwin was in Dublin. I loved that cat! But at 21, what are you asking of them? I'll always think he had planned to die while Edwin was away. . . . As much as I loved him, Edwin loved him more, and I think it would have damn near killed him to have to watch him go.

Stevie's sixteen or seventeen (Angie was never clear on how old he was, lol!) and I've had him for ten years. (Or he's had me. . . .) He's not a cuddle cat, rather a companion at a small distance. But the week she died, he curled up in the small of my back, under the covers, every single night. Mutual comfort, I think.

  8. Hi guys!

Was just wrestling with PayPal. UGH! It's easy as PI to pay ebay sellers, but when it comes to doing something worthwhile, like sending money to a friend, it throws fits. Not to worry. Mighty Cat wrestled it into submission...eventually. Phew!

BTW Puddle, saw on FB that your surgery has been scheduled. WOOT!!!

I'm reading a fascinating book called The Poisoner's Handbook about the development of forensic toxicology in 1920s New York.

Audible page, scroll down for blurb:

  10. Binky's death has rattled everyone and we're bracing to lose others. Most of them are well over ten. But we're hoping everybody makes it through to Spring.

  15. Left click your gravatar. A list will appear, at the bottom of which it is the e-address associated with your current grav. If you have more than one address with associated gravs, change the address. Otherwise, go to gravatar.com, log in and select a new grav.

  16. Not without your help, lol! Been so long since I've been to gravatar, I had to retrieve my password from the Firefox tool kit.

  17. Hey, I recently ordered that! I have made CD's to listen to when driving (it helps to keep me awake). Maybe I will listen to it starting this weekend, on the drive to and from Salt Mine No. 2.)
