  1. Howard Dean is the light on this blog's mantle!

I seem to have missed a LOT on the Thursday thread. Got absolutely swamped with making Mah*Sweetie's Christmas gift. A little fanfare here:
Ta, ta ta ta, ta ta, taaaaaa!
We pulled it off! Youngest got my drawings all cleaned up and sent them over to me via a computer Dropbox. I pulled them into iPhoto and discovered I could take out 1/3 of the highlights which ~ to my great amazement and joy ~ means I watched them go from gray background (photos of drawings come out gray in the background) to white backgrounds again but the drawings lightened too much (some lines even disappeared) to seeing them deepen back into their original selves, minus the gray background!!! I am SUPER excited for Sunday when I give the gift to Mah*Sweetie in the presence of the whole family.

I'll have a better explanation about this after Christmas. Suffice it to say I've been quietly on tenterhooks about this all week, and it has come together beautifully just in time!! What's more, it came out looking EXACTLY as I hoped it would when I first envisioned it! Whoo hoo!!!

I told Youngest I'd be happy to do his laundry or make him meals for a month to bring some ease into his life as a token of my gratitude. He doesn't think it's necessary. (It took him less than 2 hours!) But we'll see. He's over-extended at work and with side jobs, but helped his ol' Mom anyway.

  2. Whew! Glad that came together in time. And, yep, bless our kids!

Funny item came up while talking with Thankful, which was: how much does water weigh? Post op, I'm restricted to not lifting anything over three pounds for a while (a while not yet defined). So of course, I checked the nets: a quart of water weighs one pound. So I can bring in three quarts at a time, lol!

Oops! That sounded wrong. So checked for a gallon, which is 8. And a liter of water weighs 1 kg. So a two liter bottle of pop would weigh 2 kg = 4.22 pounds. . . . Sorry, *that* is ridiculous! Gonna go with five pounds.

  3. Yes, things would be SO much simpler if we just went metric and didn't have to bother with all these silly conversions. Including trying to remember -- as though anybody but a farmer ever could -- just how big an acre is.

  4. And the big news of the day is:

CONGRESSWOMAN EDDIE BERNICE JOHNSON INTRODUCES THE NATIONAL NURSE ACT OF 2011, HR 3679

Washington, DC – (Friday, December 16) – Yesterday, Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX) <http:> introduced the National Nurse Act of 2011, HR 3679 <http:> . The bill, co-led by Congressman Peter King (R-NY) <http:> , has garnered eighteen original co-sponsors. It would designate the Chief Nurse Officer of the U.S. Public Health Service as the “National Nurse for Public Health.”

The National Nurse would function alongside the Surgeon General and focus on health promotion, improving health literacy, and decreasing health disparities...

And you heard it here first, folks!
You saw it first in Deanland, where it was first conceived!
Do you remember on the Dean Blog, during The Campaign, when folks were saying what national level job they would like? Nurse Teri said she'd like to be National Nurse, and the idear just grew from that moment. Until NOW! =wOOt!=

  5. Well, how about lifting no more than 3 lbs while Thankful is with you? When we had our babies we were told not to lift anything heavier than our baby, by which they meant about 7lbs. The funny thing was, two of mine weighed over 10lbs! LOL!
