I almost never manage to write anything any more, so since I actually did a brief blog post the other day, I thought I'd go ahead and share http://www.streetprophets.com/story/2011/12/16/95726/812
I seem to end up with a sore hip, but only when I sleep on the couch. I do this sometimes in the event that Brady might wake up at night and *really* need to go potty.
Yesterday morning I fully intended to make it to water aerobics, but Brady *really* wanted to go for a walk. Or maybe more appropriately an "amble". But he enjoys it, at his own pace. Anyway, I captured a bit of it on video.
Beau's been partying hard this morning. Broke his cable, went swimming, ran around the house several times. I lured him back to the other cable (rescued from the tie out) with fresh baloney, and he promptly took himself under the house (through an area blocked, and previously thought to be too small for him), covered his wet self with underhouse dirt/dust. I lured him back out with more baloney, and a great deal of patience on both our parts. He's now thawing in front of the door. . . .
When I checked my email, after settling in, I found a link to the PBS clip from my retreat weekend with Martin Laird! It's an 8.5 min clip, and there is nearly nothing from the retreat itself in it. They could have simply filmed Martin's talk to us! But it's a good interview, even though it barely scratches the surface of what he addressed during the retreat. I'm in the clip twice, but not so's you'd notice. Early on I'm in the church audience way at the back, sitting right at the aisle, and about half hidden. Toward the end they show a close up of people meditating and that's the top of my head in the top left corner of your screen. LOL!
I have a picture of Edwin on Santa's lap. He looks to be about two, and the look on his face sez: WHO the HELL are YOU? I truly love that picture. . . .
Early Sunday, as the sun ascended to the winter sky, the very last American convoy made its way down the main highway that connects Iraq and Kuwait.
The military called it its final "tactical road march." A series of 110 heavily armored, hulking trucks and Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles carrying about 500 soldiers streamed slowly but steadily out of the combat zone.
A few minutes before 8 a.m., the metal gate behind the last MRAP closed. With it came to an end a deadly and divisive war that lasted almost nine years, its enormous cost calculated in blood and billions. ...
That's always been my reaction to a Santa figure too.
I tell you truly that despite good st. Nicholas, the Santa hype totally turns me off. We had the Christmas Angel bring a gift instead, which at least took our tradition off the commercialism radar.
And guess what. Daughter put us up at a beautiful Inn while in town. When we went to our room last night there were Christmas Angel gifts on the bed! These were always wrapped it red tissue paper and fastened with gold twine.
Mine is a new hat!!! I love it. It's thin, soft, warm fleece in brown with black trim and a black flower decoration. It goes great with my mallard blue barn coat which has brown corduroy trim.
Somebody's got to say it, might as well be me, lol!

Was exhaustified last night, went to bed about 10:30. Now my hips hurt 'cause I stayed abed too long. . . . No winning.

ReplyDeleteTODAY in Kennebunk, Maine we watched A PAIR OF BLUEBIRDS!!! Most unusual!
ReplyDeleteAs we left yesterday we had an inch or two of snow, and big flakes were falling. Came home and it's still here, as it's about 4 degrees at the moment.
For those of you still waiting for snow, here's Anne Murray singing Jesse Winchester's song, Wintery Feeling:

Over 100,000 Iraqi people died in the war.
ReplyDelete4500 of our soldiers died, 32,000 wounded and at least 1000 committed suicide.
