puddle--maybe if I were to get another job in Alaska during the winter I could treat myself to one of those Gloverall duffle coats…maybe that would be a business expense, eh? But around here folks would think "where did YOU come from?"
listener--my fingers and toes are getting a little cramped, so I'm going to uncross them until January 3rd.
Oh, my--Teddy's video is really a find! Thanks, Susan and puddle!
Can't say as I have ever read any of CS Forester's books, but I had no idea until his rediscovered novel was recently announced that he was a significant figure in the evolution of crime fiction:
C.S. Forester and Crime Fiction: http://www.twbooks.co.uk/crimescene/csforesterme.html
The Pursued by CS Forester--review http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2011/nov/11/the-pursued-cs-forester-review
CS Forester's lost crime novel to be published at last http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2011/oct/16/forester-the-pursued-published-hornblower
The problem is that Penguin is at this time only publishing The Pursued in the UK; it might come to the US someday, but there is no indication when that might be. I have ordered a copy of Payment Deferred from alibris.com, and expect to make arrangements over the weekend to get a copy of The Pursued by mail from the UK. Once I read them, I would be happy to share with my good friends here; just say the word.
One of my favorite recipes was a breakfast coffee cake with fruit topping (pie filling). I couldn't find it. After exploring on the internet I found a recipe that seemed like the one I was looking for. I tried it. It was okay but definitely not as good as the one I used to use. A slight disappointment.
Last night the light bulb over my head clicked on. The Blogger Cookbook! I hadn't looked at it for a while, but I reasoned that I surely would have submitted one of my favorite recipes. This morning I looked and there it was! Blogger's Breakfast Cake. I am a very happy mama and fully intend to make one today. This one will have peach topping. 8-)
*That* is wunnerful!! Thankful's done more than a few saves, eh?
Had payback last night from the shut down for a day and a half. Cramping, dizzy, dehydration. Luckily, since the esophagus was/is working (well what passes for working, nowadays, lol!) medicating worked once discovered what was missing. The usual suspect: potassium.
Upside: Lord willing and the crick don't rise, all I need to do is make it through two more days.
Always holding you in the light, puddle, and envisioning the best of all possible outcomes for you.
listener, I sympathize with you and hubby having to wait for news. Kind of like trying to sleep comfortable on a bed of gravel. Keeping you in my thoughts right next to puddle.
Welcome to the planet ♥ Mia Charlotte ♥ daughter of Andrew and Sarah! We are tickled to welcome our newest grandniece, born on Christmas Eve Day. Sarah is our niece who had leukemia and a bone marrow transplant about 15 years ago, which renders one sterile. Sarah was able to give birth because her big sister Alison, who has four children, donated the egg. Sarah & Alison's dad is Mah*Sweetie's older brother, who is now in remission from pancreatic cancer, and their mom is the chair of Make-a-Wish for NH. Talk about a miracle baby! = Merry Christmas! =
We have decided to "take a brace" and enjoy the time between now and the coming of the news, one way or the other. If the news is bad, we will have had a respite first. If the news is good, suddenly Mah*Sweetie is going to become very busy, so this time together matters. :-)
Going to try to post a link to a blog. On the second entry down, for Dec. 23, Nancy published her friend, Frank's, poem, The Birds. She publishes it once a year and I just love it. I hope you like it too.
Howard IS first this Christmas Even Morning!

ReplyDeletelistener ~~ that sounds like a plan!
ReplyDeleteIf I were Jewish, I think "Mazel tov!" would be the appropriate phrase.
