Still cold this morning, but the week's trending warmer. Blessedly, all the tightening up the kid's been doing is actually working! Hoo'dathunkit? Staying *very* comfortable inside with minimum output.
Off to the book mine. Gorgeous day here...clear blue sky and temps a tad warmer than expected. I'd love to go for a long walk, but I suppose I could settle for getting paid instead. ;-)
Well, I'd've thunk it. Tightening up is always good. Our new double-pand windows should make a difference.
Incidentally, we had been a bit concerned because the stickers on the windows said they were all +2 glass, which blocks a bit more sunlight than the +1 glass we ordered everywhere but in my office. But the guy from the manufacturer was out today and careful inspection suggests the stickers were wrong (as the customer service guy had claimed). He's going to pull the actual manifest, which relfects the input to the machines, to make sure.
Interesting. I still can't reach the candle page at gratefulness.org. So I clicked on "contact us" and then "report a technical problem." And guess what? At that point I got the same "System Error" message. The message says they have logged the error and will investigate it later, but I wonder when "later" is.
You might want to try to get to the site using a different browser. There were gremlins in the works today. One library patron called to tell us our website was down, but we could get to it from all computers in the library. I tried to go to Google at one point and got an error message. Sunspots?
Cat's Back! Whoo hoo!! Was your electricity knocked out in the storm? =We missed you!= I lit an Ally candle with your name on it, in the interim. The little sweetie had a very bad day yesterday, but a better one today. Update coming soon, puddle.
Last few days, Bill Gates and my phone company have conspired to see if they can make me rue the day I found the nets. Been struck by how often Gates software just outright lies about what it's doing. . . .
Hi guys. Thanks for lighting the candle for me, Listener. No, thankfully we didn't lose power, though other parts of the city did. Donno exactly how much snow we got in the end, but as of this afternoon it had not yet all melted and much of the yard was still white. I haven't been out to check on St Francis - Oh, wait, I didn't tell you guys about St. Francis. Well, he came, hmm, must have been Wednesday. He's thirty-two inches, not really all that tall. Dad finally got him installed at Binky's grave site the afternoon before the snowstorm. In fact, I was annoyed. Wanted to go out and see him insitu and spend some time with Binky, but the snow was coming down too hard by then for casual outings. Still, I was glad he was there with Binky.
I've been, donno what exactly, blue I guess, not sick but yet not really able to concentrate on much. Spent last night listening to music, which helps. Reading helps too, but in some ways music is better.
Oh, reading reminds me. Sis got a Kindle. And, guess what? she's able to read again with it! She read an entire children's book, Jane Emily on it over the course of one afternoon and evening. Neither of us can remember the last time she was able to read even an entire chapter, much less an entire book! It's amazing!
I too have had trouble with the Web. Trying to order a jigsaw puzzle from a site I've ordered from before, but keep getting an error message. The most annoying part is that there are only two left. By the time the connection gets straightened out, t hey may all be gone. Oh well. One can but try.
Howard's got it; we've got his back!

ReplyDeleteI sure like the sound of that!!

ReplyDeleteGetting paid is a good thing. Getting paid is our friend.
ReplyDeleteSounds great, Puddle.
ReplyDeleteLovely, sunny day here.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, Puddle!
ReplyDeleteHow much snow'd ya get? Lights stay on, etc.? And welcome home!!

Nope. Tried in Mozilla Firefox, which I have because IE won't post replies on the Prairie State Blue blog, but got the same result.
ReplyDeleteThat IS wonderful!! Amazing stuff the way the brain works (or doesn't).
ReplyDeleteI know, isn't it?

ReplyDeleteIs anyone else having this problem?
ReplyDeleteBill, I'll light a candle with your initials, to tide you over.
Thanks so much! :-)
Thanks, listener.
ReplyDelete{{{ =^. .^= }}} Love that you got a St Francis to watch over Binky.
ReplyDelete♥ Hope you feel good all week long.
{ !!! } That's fabulous news about Sis' Kindle!! Wow! Suddenly I like those devices!
Glad to, Bill. :-)
ReplyDeleteIs anyone else having difficulty with Ally's candle page?
