listener--No status report from Renee; just a very brief reply that shows she is up to checking her e-mail.
Bill--the Google page header in Japan was a fast-motion video of a bunch of people carving pumpkins outside the Googleplex, and then a night view of the finished product.
Header took so long to load, I never did see it whole, just bits. And couldn't get it to replay. Cute, for peeps not on dialup.
That's actually about where the 1/99% lay, eh? The 1% simply can't imagine that the 99% actually *exist*. . . . Nor that there are peeps still on dialup. Or with disabilities. Or out of work. Or no insurance. Studs Terkel did interviews with Wall Street Bankers who *insisted*, though they walked to work past them daily, that there *never* were guys on the Street selling apples. . . .
puddle, Grandma Marcia from the old DFA blog sent me this great Stephen Colbert quote:
"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it."
I think the 1% is willfully trying to pretend that the 99% aren't there because they "just don't want to do it".
Fine here...got just a dusting overnight into Sunday which melted off Sunday morning. But I'm thinking Cat may be going stir crazy by now, as her area was hard hit...some towns just to her west got two feet of snow!

Someone I love with all my heart is currently "killing me with kindness", but hopefully that gets better soon. Not on Facebook much these days. Trying to get some more sleep ASAP before going in for a blood draw.
Now the candle page gives a "System Error" as soon as I try to open it. For the past several weeks it has let me light the candle but then given a "System Error" when I tried to return to the candle page.
puddle ~~ This page is intended primarily for people in Japan. I think I remember hearing that almost everybody in Japan now has high-speed internet. Or at least everybody in Japan who has a computer.
listener ~~ Nope. My saved bookmark doesn't work either. I can go to the gratefulness.org home page, but as soon as I click on "light a candle" the System Error message comes up again.
Maybe a bad cookie of some sort. But I have too many useful cookies to simply delete them all when I don't even know if that will work.
Here's to HOward!
