  3. Beautiful rainy coolish sweet Autumn Equinox!

    Tonight my kid arrives, tomorrow is me mum's birthday. She would have been 94.

    This morning, both animals had potty accidents. Ain't life fun?

  4. Thanks, everyone, for the sympathy. Yes, Bill, it was much better that she be at home rather than in the hospital. I think she did know we loved her. We certainly knew she loved us. She fought very hard not to leave us.

    We buried Binky this afternoon. We put her in a plain brown box tied up with pink satin ribbon and a white silk flower. Donno what kind of flower. It didn't look like a lily or a rose. Dad made a nice, tidy mound over her. Mum is going to get a marker stone of the kind listener has told us about. I murmured "Father, into thy hands we commend her spirit," but couldn't speak aloud. Perhaps the others thought me cold because I couldn't say anything and didn't weep openly like Sis. She left as soon as the first shovelful of earth went into the grave. I stayed. Couldn't let dad fill in the grave all alone. Also, couldn't leave Binky there. Once I saw an A&E Biography of the BeeGees. I remember Maurice saying that after they buried Andy he had the most terrible feeling that they shouldn't just go away and leave Andy there all alone. That's how I felt. Probably would have stayed all afternoon except it started to rain.Definitely did not like leaving her there.

  5. Guess who just sent not one but two text messages on her iPhone? Moi. One of Sis' friends sent messages of concern and condolence accidentally to the old number, my phone, instead of to the new number, her phone. I felt in politeness bound to answer. And she answered me immediately, so I answered her again. Quite amazing, really, that I can type on that teeny keyboard. Pecking with one finger of course, but it wasn't all that bad really. Now I just have to work out how to keep my left hand from going stiff and sore from holding the phone still. Apparently most people cradle the phone in both hands and type with the thumbs. That is beyond me at the moment, but doubtless I'll work out something. Must say I'm rather proud of myself, especially since it's hard to type on a normal keyboard just now with how my hands are shaking.

    Congratulationis! I've never tried text messaging and in some ways hope I never have to.

  7. Your life certainly isn't dull this week!

  8. That's impressive! I try hard to never have to text too. To have two hands free, I would probably place the phone on a table with something rubbery under it so it can't slide. One of those thin, rubber, jar openers would probably work undernearth.

    {{ Go Cat! }}

    Oh, and yesterday we received a package in the mail fro a 12 year old friend. When she heard that Emma-cat had died, she cried! Then she sat down and drew a pencil sketch of Emma, made a really nice frame for it, and sent it to us with such a nice hand-made card and message! That warmed our hearts like nothing else has since Emma died, three weeks ago this hour. =^. .^=

    So that made me think all the more of you as you mourn sweet Binky's passing. Love is the part that never dies. ♥

  9. The "mayor" of Sugar Grove died yesterday. Kind of a long term joke: the Bowers were the founding family, and own a huge amount of land around here. The city (lol!) is unincorporated. His father was the doctor, and built a wonderful little victorian mansion on the corner, gingerbread and all. On the National Register, and well kept. His younger brother owns and runs the stone store which contains the post office run by the son (used to be wife till she retired about ten years ago).

    Thing was, Bill was the natural go to guy for pretty much everything: when there was a ram wading in my river, who to call but Bill? Who in fact *knew* whose ram it was, and called them to come get it, which they did.

    Can't think who might replace him. His son owns a lot of land, runs a trout farm, and is a lawyer. Can't see calling *him* about lost and found rams. . . .

  13. Listen to Brian Williams' report on the falling satellite.
    Something tells me this is going to make it onto the Daily Show. LOL!

  16. That's very much the way I felt, too, Cat. We buried most of our kitties as you did, but the last two we had cremated first, because we live in the wilds and don't want wild critters nosing about and so forth. It was so hard to leave Emma's body at the vet's office, as she had only died an hour before (but they were going to close and it was a Friday). It was 13 days before her ashes were returned to us and that didn't feel good. It's better to have her back in our space again, and the stone really does help me because I can look out and see the sunlight on it quite often (even though it's under a tree). It's good our kitties aren't in pain anymore and it's wonderful that they got to live a life being loved. I just wish our pets lived as long as we do! ♥
