  3. Off to sleep, then work, then visit from the newlyweds, then I'm going to focus on the storm.

  4. Here is an interactive hurricane tracking site that includes a lot of bells and whistles.
Try zooming in and turning on (in the right column) the radar and clouds.

    Poor Pamlico Sound! :-(

  5. Bit of rain here, and lights flickered once, but that seems to be about it. Hope everyone else does as well!

  6. Love the quote from my favorite banjo-playing frog you used as the title, listener.

  7. Indeed he would. But Kermit runs him a close second.

  8. Just some intermittent rain here thus far. Hope that's as much as happens. For this mighty and fearsome storm event to fall flat would be just fine with me.

  9. listener, not to be greedy, but you wouldn't happen to have a photo of rain on a window, you know, as seen from the inside? I'd like to try taking such a picture myself but my iPhone, with its camera, seems to have become permanently attached to my sister's hand. And, she's not into taking pictures. We really are going to have to get another iPhone one of these days.

  10. Got a close look at Pippa a while ago while she was napping. She is a short haired cat, her fur soft but not fuzzy. It is less striking than sally's, with its charcoal and silver stripes. Pippa is a soft grey on grey. Her little face is grey too, with a pink nose. I haven't yet seen what color her eyes are, but Patty suggested that they are most likely grey too. I'll report when possible.

Positive developments on the Dad front. Pippa was awake and walking around when he went in to talk to Mum, and immediately went to him. According to Sis, he was enthusiastic. So, that's one less worry.

  11. Just talked to ma kid (about wells and water) and he said it had been raining all day, but not like a thunderstorm, just a good solid April rain. He was at Reston, VA, waiting for my grandbaby to finish at a birthday party. My rain has stopped and I'm getting a little bit of wind from the NE.

  12. Gorgeous moment just at dusk: the whole northeast sky an amazing shade of goldpink. And the air, and the river and the road. Just the briefest of moments.

  13. It's moments like that that restore the soul.

  14. Raining on and off all day today. Currently off. Donno what to think. Sis is militantly skeptical. Dad has filled several large containers with water and loaded them into the bathtub. Mum's more or less uninterested in the whole thing and I don't know whether to be scared or not. Charging my Victor Reader Stream just in case.

Hope the hurricane is as much a fizzle for everyone here as it seems to be.

Pretty bland day for this household. Took care of some book ordering and now have a bit of work to do.

  16. Not yet, but I imagine I'll be able to get just such a photo tomorrow!! Heh!

  17. Thanks, Bill. I hope so too!

    Bland is good.

  18. THIS is no fizzle, and it's already caused at least 5 deaths.

  19. A friend just south of Raleigh (near Smithfield) says the storm has passed there now...
...and says her yard is a MESS! She even has a bag of dog food in her yard, and she doesn't have a dog!
