We had *lots* of rain last night and into this morning. It seems calm now and maybe brightening a bit, with some lingering wind. Nothing terrible though...yet. Knock on wood and keeping fingers crossed.
Got a good look at Pippa's s eyes. They are green. Sis claims blue-green, while I thing grey-green. It probably depends on the light and her mood. Binky's eyes can be green, greenish-yellow or almost black, depending..
I'm sure not liking seeing large chunks of leaves coming down everywhere in my yard. I'm especially not liking seeing my immediate neighbour's 40ft deciduous tree waving rather close to my roof. We have a High Wind Warning in effect until 8 am EDT Monday, with gust to 60 expected all night. Heh.
Our lights have flickered at times, and sometimes with weird rapid-fire flickers instead of the usual slow blinks.

Vermont has (likely) had at least one Irene-related death. :-( http://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/article/20110828/NEWS02/110828006/Irene-s-effects-Thousands-without-power-roads-closed-woman-swept-away-Wilmington?odyssey=mod|breaking|img|FRONTPAGE
Wilmington, where the woman was swept away, is in the southern part of Vermont, whereas I'm in the NW part, about 2 hours from there. That's closer to Cat than to me, actually. The southern part has had more rain than we have. But it's still raining here and it's expected to continue until midnight, with a high wind warning lasting straight through to morning.
Just got word that my favorite brother in law of all time just died this afternoon. He wuz a preacherman, and one of those who give Christianity a good name. Family's coming together. But not my family any more, alas. Some love reaches over those boundaries.
Well, dear blog friends. It turns out that Irene stayed all day centered in Vermont, and the result is widespread devastation. Vermont is a disaster area. I am fortunate to live in the NW part, which got perhaps the least flooding. But look at this...! And pray, please. Lives have been changed here today. This is the worst we have seen since we moved to Vermont 30 years ago.

Sky still grey, but I've actually seen some weak, intermittent sunshine!
ReplyDeleteListener, sending you lots of positive, no-tree-falling vibes♥

The photo in the article, showing Interstate 89, is about a half hour from me.
ReplyDeleteGreen eyes are very pretty on a gray kitty!

ReplyDeleteDitto Cat's transmission!
ReplyDeleteDad said there have been fourteen hurricane-related deaths so far. I'm so sorry for all of them!
ReplyDeleteThat little band of rain yesterday brought us up to 3" for the month. . . .
ReplyDeleteWe're over 5" for the month and over 37" for the year so far.
ReplyDeleteMe too, Cat. :-)
ReplyDeleteSo far, so good. Keep 'em coming!

It sounds very serious. And flooding on the Connecticut and other area rivers remains possible for several days to come.
Lights flickering a lot. The wind has quite picked up again. Hmmm.
ReplyDeleteLove and mercies, listener♥

Thanks, and troo. I see him in the most amazing starry crown. . . .
ReplyDeleteAt least for Vermont, not as much of a fizzle as I'd hoped. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteAh, listener, prayers indeed.
