  3. Had to laugh ~~ been saving my weeds for my uproad neighbor and egg lady, because her chickens love em. They were sitting near the garden in a big black plastic garbage bag. Yesterday when I went to add another load, noticed that the wild critters had been making holes in the bottom of the bag, convinced that good things must be inside a bag like that. How humans train the wild thangs. . . .

Pleasant surprise when I got home this afternoon: Marc wished me Happy Father's Day. I had totally forgotten today was Father's Day.

Enjoyed the convention, although I didn't get enough sleep. But that's what science fiction conventions are supposed to be about. All four of the panels I was on went well. Reinforced my conviction that an hour isn't enough, though.

And you know something? As though I didn't already have enough to do, I signed up to help with the bid to hole the 2014 Worldcon in Spokane.

  8. Daughter still too cool for me. Son...well, complicated. He's more sociable than his sister, but still challenging. He's currently the only one in the house with the promise of paid employment--starting a week from tomorrow.

It's part of a program we were fortunate enough to find out about. Supposed to teach job skills, but he gets paid. But there are rules to follow. Son doesn't like rules.

Well, just accidentally deleted my previous post when I mean to add a reply. My fault. Will repeat what I said and add what I intended to add.

Had a pleasant surprise when I got home this afternoon: Marc wished me Happy
father's Day. I'm completely forgotten about today being Father's Day.

Had a good convention, but exhausting. That's what science fiction conventions are supposed to be about, though. I overheard one guy explaining his exhaustion by the fact this was his third can in seven weeks. When I go to Westercon (in San Jose, CA) over the 4th of July weekend, that will be my third con in six weeks.

All four of the panels I was on went well, despite how tired I was. They left me more than ever convinced, however, that an hour is simply not long enough.

And as though I didn't already have enough different things to do, I found myself signing up to help with the bid to hold the 2014 Worldcon in Spokane.

With that, I'm on my way to bed. Lots of real work to do tomorrow.
