So how is everyone today? We had a wee bit of snow overnight, sun this morning with accompanying dripping, and now it's cloudy. The birds seem grateful that the fierce winds have subsided. Still no sign of the tree guy, so the tree still lies out there busted. We figure he has had to prioritise the various required cleanups. There was a lot of damage in our area. He's a good guy and will be along when he can. Gotta watch out for those south winds! How ironic that I so recently posted the photos of the straight-line wind and microburst that occurred here in July. That too was a southerly wind.
I am taking advantage of these quiet days to prepare for leading Tuesday's quiet day for some area clergy. It remains to be seen whether I will be capable of being present and leading it. I may need to pass my presentation along to one among them to offer in my stead. Having no good voice is a true disability, I can tell you! The doctor said I could return to work once my fever has been down for 24 hours. That was days ago, but I still can't go to work until I can speak and be heard. So I have today home from work too.
Next in jeopardy is my sister's retirement ceremony on Saturday. And what about Sunday's theatre tickets to see "The Toys Take Over Christmas"? I want to go, but I don't want to give anyone any, er, "gifts" they don't need.
Main Squeeze and I were already thinking we won't get a Christmas tree this year, since we won't be here for Christmas, it is always a little heartbreaking to cut down a tree, and we lose a lot of living space when we get one. Today there is an article featuring the place we always get ours (it's not far from our house), saying they are running out of trees this year. I think that clinches it. http://www.wptz.com/video/25941830/detail.html
Possibly...but only if the doctor knew what I actually have. I was seen on Friday by one doctor, then spoke with another on Sunday. It was the person who spoke with me, without my chart in hand and not having examined me who said that about going back to work. So it was more a "rule of thumb" kind of thing. It is the Library Director who said I will need to have mu voice back first. She is both looking out for my well being and recognising that to serve our patrons we have to be able to converse with them.
To complicate things, I believe that I got the laryngitis first and Hubby's cold on top of it, because I didn't have any nasal congestion until nearly a week after I got the sore throat (and after I spoke with both doctors). Heh.

Well, the egg fairy came this morning, so I don't need to get to town for another day or two (when my coffee creamer runs out -- no coffee creamer fairy in my life, alas. . . .). She also cleaned the culverts on the bridge. Which is fine. I never would, lol! That is *her* fetish, so I let her have at it. She's convinced it keeps the flooding down.
Meanwhile a cold, gray, mean looking day. Pegged right at 32ยบ ~~
Just learned that son and family two towns over lost power when trees came down all over the place there yesterday. DIL and granddaughter are staying with the other grandmother and son is tending the house with a space heater a generator run off the car as needed, but he's mostly at work.
Their road is closed from BOTH ends! Lots of trees down in their yard, blocking their driveway and seriously harming their chicken coop...though all the chickens are fine and secure. Their big chain-link pen has serious warpage, though!!
Where they are they're 300' up the hill so they get hit harder than in town. But there are folks further up that same hill and they got SNOW into the bargain!
He figures he might get power back on Saturday. Maybe.
I am reliably informed that Howard is first.
ReplyDeleteVery true!

The doctor said you could return to work. I would assume that means you're not infectious.
