Check out this Slate article about how S. Palin does not understand the original Tea Party and is acting more like Britain at the time of the Revolution.
OK, I educated myself about 3f8 and HAMA over at Wikipedia. 3f8 is a mouse-derived antibody (they probably make it in yeast or some such thing nowadays) directed against those nasty neuroblastoma cells. So there! Zappo! But some patients (less than half) will make antibodies to the mouse antibodies (Human Anti Mouse Antibodies, or Human Anti Murine Antibodies if you want to be fancy), which can cause potentially serious problems *and* decrease effectiveness of the 3f8. Here's hoping Ally's immune system doesn't mind the antibodies from those cute [and helpful] little mousies!
A moderately busy day at work today, but not excessive. But this morning I stopped at the post office and there were two boxes of documents to review, and by the way, could the client have a verbal opinion before Friday? I found what I needed to find and sorted things out in two hours, so can chat with the client tomorrow. One of the items indicates that they wasted money on another "expert" who didn't read the records carefully...
Miyoko was going to buy some local strawberries today, but it went from looking sort of wintry to POURING rain by 9 AM, so that was out. Sorry for the strawberry farmers--this was their first week to start selling.
I ordered two kinds of absinthe, one from France and one from Washington, which should arrive on Monday. By ordering two, I dodged shipping charges. Should be interesting. Seems expensive, but on a per-drink basis it isn't unreasonable. And it is supposed to be an apertif, not a digestive, which means I should only have some every other weekend. So that's not an unreasonable treat. Besides historically interesting. I will be sure to let everyone here know if I should be creatively inspired or cut off an ear. [grin]
Careful with the green fairy, Alan. But let us know how it turns out, lol!
Gorgeous day here -- sun and cloud by turn. Rained early this morning, but not enough. My spring line is just barely dripping. . . . Was going to take a bath last night, but I'd let the culinary water get too low and needed it there first. Am about to get my bath *now*! And tomorrow, the plan is to get to Harrisonburg and get new batteries for the phones! Which have needed new ones for more than a year (or two).
My apples, plums, and dogwood are in bloom!! And the maples all in tiny flags of pink and peach! Just lovely!!!!
Alan, you did an excellent job of describing 3f8 and HAMA in a nutshell!
I thought Ally just had two rounds of 3f8 to do, but she has two more a month apart, then continues to have the treatments at regular intervals for up to two years, as long as her HAMA stays negative.
Howard Dean, that true Patriot, is FIRST!

And thus to bed.
