  3. This is the stuff-happens administration. And it's willing, apparently, to sacrifice any claim America may have to national greatness rather than inconvenience the rich by taxing them to build a more secure nation.

  4. White Foragers Report Threat Of Black Looters

NEW ORLEANS—Throughout the Gulf Coast, Caucasian suburbanites attempting to gather food and drink in the shattered wreckage of shopping districts have reported seeing AfricanAmericans "looting snacks and beer from damaged businesses." "I was in the abandoned Wal-Mart gathering an air mattress so I could float out the potato chips, beef jerky, and Budweiser I'd managed to find," said white survivor Lars Wrightson, who had carefully selected foodstuffs whose salt and alcohol content provide protection against contamination. "Then I look up, and I see a whole family of [African-Americans] going straight for the booze. Hell, you could see they had already looted a fortune in diapers." Radio stations still in operation are advising store owners and white people in the affected areas to locate firearms in sporting-goods stores in order to protect themselves against marauding blacks looting gun shops.

  5. I noticed as I read the overnight thread at BFA that someone tried to go for my jugular after my jugular had gone to bed. I like the fresh clean air over here.

Anyway, for all you animal lovers out there, I contributed to the American Humane Association's disaster relief fund. There are actively working to rescue the pets separated from their families during the recent hurricane. They even have Snowball, the dog who was separated from his young owner who was forced to leave him behind. They are actively trying to find the little boy.

You can find their site at:

  6. A little birdie told me that the dancing one was in town... good to see you Larry!

The DeanNation is alive and well and spread throughout the progressive blogosphere. It is my experience that we collectively listen to each other and have the opportunity throughout the entire progressive side of the blog world. I don't know what the subject matter is or your comment on "Terri's diary" (TerriInTokyo's diary on MyDD?) but if we collectively decided to move in a particular direction or take a particular action then I think we could strongly influence the rest to come along for the ride.

    Peace,

    Andrew

  7. Hey Dancing Larry. Good to see you! I'm in the midst of paying bills and other fun stuff (like trying to get my dog to believe it's NOT lightning and thundering outside.)

This blog is still a developing entity. Some nights it's bustling, and some nights it's quiet. I would like to have a better idea of what you have in mind.

  8. Larry, I sure hope isn't. And I think many of us are still in touch, off Big Blog, with each other. I see this blog, particularly, as useful in keeping contacts alive. I was delighted to see Wild Salmon back over at Kos: she's been gone for a long long time.

On the other hand, I know I'm finding my own baby blog really satisfying, LOL!!

    Take a look: http://eatapyzch.blogspot.com/
    Clicky.

(Scroll down a little Terri's basic appeal is there)

  9. OK... yes, "Terri's diary" (link posted above) is a DKos version of the MyDD diary I had read previously. I think it is good stuff. Did everyone see the post earlier from Tom Hughes regarding Monisha Sujan? They posted a link for ideas and I'm wondering if Terri has posted her thoughts or a link to her diary there. All these thoughts, ideas, and whatever efforts come out from them should be coordinated together amongst all of us.

    Peace,

    Andrew

  12. Hey everybody--I think I'm going to need to turn in now. I gave final exams tonight and will have to get them graded in the next couple days, but I'm just too tired at the moment. Demetrius has to get up on the roof again tomorrow morning and get the job finished--or at least finished *enough* before the predicted storms come in tomorrow. I need to be here when he's working on the roof in case he needs anything, but I also need to get out at some point and get groceries, as well as something for our daughter's birthday (she's turning 10).

The Bring Them Home Now Tour is coming through Columbus tomorrow, and there's a potluck in the evening. I think my daughter and I will go--Demetrius at that point will probably want to get some much needed and deserved rest--but that means I need to come up with something to *bring* to a potluck. Anyway--thanks everyone for stopping by tonight. If anyone else puts up a new entry before I get to it, could you please include a mention of what shadowdonna talked about in her 8;34 post?

Also, don't know if people have seen it, but Christ front-paged my transcript of Howard's interview on Randi Rhodes over at MyDD.

    Namaste, and good night.

  14. I'm glad so many progressives and Deanpeople are contributing to the relief effort for this disaster, and especially glad to see so many animal lovers trying to help reunite people and their pets. Thank you shadowdonna for your contribution to the American Humane Association. I am also contributing to the Humane Society of the US.

  15. TigerMom's over at the BigBlog resigning. It's breaking my heart, and I don't know how to DO broken hearts. . . .

  16. puddle, it sounds like she's just taking a bit of a blog break. She's got to tend her own garden for awhile. She's angry and upset about the current situaltion in NO and wants to devote her time to activism. She's not going far. She's just going to save our country.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yeah, Donna, she made that a little clearer later. And I'm glad she posted.

It's not like I'm "dependent" on this community, but I do so love it, as it has been: connected, active, loving. Keeping us all up on what's going on.

But I know, myself, when I get "busy" with other stuff, I do what's at hand, first.

  18. Nice blog. Does anyone know what happened to Dean Photos? Richard Hoefer said he had all the photos from the campaign backed up. I went there just now, and saw this:
    http://www.deanphotos.com/

Site has been suspended. All those wonderful pictures. He was changing servers, I know. Has anyone heard?

I am the floridagal at Kos and mostly Booman....just never set up my own blog. Not sure what all is involved.

  19. floridagal, there's a disconnect between the url and the actual site, try this:

  20. As for setting up your own blog: register here, and *don't* sign off when it gets to the page that asks you to name your blog. Just keep going, and bingo! If you want to do photos, take them up on hello dot com. It feels a little buggy to me, but it works.

  21. Thanks for the picture link, I missed that site. And also thanks for the tip for the blog. Appreciated.
