TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE TODAY!

Be sure to note today's eclipse, 

even if you're not in the totality area.  

Where I am in Vermont, we'll see about 60% eclipse.  How about you?  And remember to wear your solar eclipse glasses!! 

If you miss out this time, take heart.  The eclipse on Tuesday 8 April 2024 will also be a total solar eclipse for parts of the USA.  It will be my first total solar eclipse since 2 October 1959.  I was four years old then, in Boston, and it was overcast.

NASA says, of 2024...

The totality path will cross northern Vermont (including Burlington), southern Canada (including Montreal), northern New Hampshire and a large swath of northern Maine. It will peak mid-afternoon.
Like today's eclipse, this one will also be visible across the continental U.S., with Carbondalle, Illinois, being the lucky city seeing total solar eclipses in both 2017 and 2024.

We met Carolyn Collins the last time we visited PEI. As my dear husband had created the newsletter Kindred Spirits, about the works and life of LMM, she took us from Silverbush across the road to the family home (then not yet open to the public), where I photographed the Rosebud Spray Tea Set and the remaining original diety of the hearth (Gog, I think). She also gave me her email address and phone number inviting us to stay in touch ... which I managed to misplace before we got home to Vermont. Lovely to feel reconnected! 

In the Guest Post, Carolyn mentions Rea Wilmshurst.  

I recall that Rea stopped here at our home in Vermont on her way 

from PEI back to Toronto one year, to meet and discuss LMM, 

Kindred Spirits newsletter, and the work Rea was doing.  

That was so long ago (early 90's) that I feel old!

I can't wait to read the book!!

This is Mallets Bay where we sail. That dark land off on the left is Coates Island. For the last 145 years, it has been owned by the Coates Family. There are 40 camps (small cottages) on the island, three of which are currently for sale. On Saturday we got to tour the Island, courtesy of the Coates Family.  So nice!

Starship Lantern

This was at the craft center too, created by Kristian Brevik.  

It is made of wood with embroidered appliqué sails.  

The whale lights up from inside more than appears here.  

The sails are patches of night sky with stars!  Sooooooo amazing!!  

And a mere $3,200.

Wow!  I saw this at the local craft center and it blew me away.  So beautiful!! 

Sorry to say I neglected to note the name of the artist, because I was stunned by the price tag: $2,700.
