  2. Interesting that Scott Bessent, whom DT has nominated for Treasury Secretary, in addition to actually knowing a lot about finances and being a contributor to the 2025 Project, just happens to be gay. I guess if you're a billionaire, it's okay. Hypocrites.

    2. It occurs to me that since both Trump and Musk evidently suffer from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder they might suddenly develop a very bad relationship.

  4. California child becomes first minor reported with case of bird flu [Click] “Infection brings number of US bird flu cases this year to 55, including 29 in California, says CDC.” Child recovered quickly with antiviral therapy, and so far no known cases of human to human transfer of the virus.

    1. Viruses mutate, and if we end up with human to human transmission we could have another pandemic. -- nordy

    2. And influenza viruses are infamous for swapping genes when different stains infect the same creature. Where humans and migratory water birds live in close proximity it happens regularly; that is why so many new variants originate in southern (south-central?) China, and why the 1918 pandemic started in Kansas.

  7. After Trump’s Project 2025 denials, he is tapping its authors and influencers for key roles
(AP) As a former and potentially future president, Donald Trump hailed what would become Project 2025 as a road map for “exactly what our movement will do” with another crack at the White House.

As the blueprint for a hard-right turn in America became a liability during the 2024 campaign, Trump pulled an about-face. He denied knowing anything about the “ridiculous and abysmal” plans written in part by his first-term aides and allies.

Now, after being elected the 47th president on Nov. 5, Trump is stocking his second administration with key players in the detailed effort he temporarily shunned. -- nordy

    2. Not surprised. I had hoped that Project 2025 was some horrid ideal they were shooting for, but that it couldn't be implemented in one election cycle. I guess we'll see. What has worked for dictators in other countries may prove more difficult in the nation on Earth that has enjoyed the most freedoms.

    3. I certainly hope so. One of the great accomplishments in US political history was the abolition of the spoils system by civil service reforms under Chester A. Arthur. [Note: he was a Vermonter, as well as a surprising reformer.]

  8. Wil suggests that President Biden issue a blanket pardon for all government employees in advance of DT's administration. That way his goons can't come after their enemies for things folks have done in the past.
