  2. Hoping to hear from listener and Cat soon; that seems to have been quite a storm that came through their neck of the woods.

    P.S.: Cute cake!

    1. Storm? We didn't get any storm; not even any rain to speak of. Thanks for the concern though, Alan. And I agree in hoping Listener is okay!

    2. From way out here it looks like the two of you are pretty close together, but the reality may be otherwise. I see that Jericho has thunderstorms scheduled for this evening.

  3. Thanks loads for the birthday wishes.

We cruised Loch Ness a few days ago but didn't see Nessie.

    2. Glad to hear it. Our remaining cat has seemed to be on the way out three times, and each time recovered. He's probably about seventeen or eighteen years old.

  8. The Perseid meteor shower peaks tonight, after midnight. Moonset is about midnight, and there are no clouds predicted. Maybe this will be our lucky year!

  11. Kamala Harris returned home to the San Francisco Bay area for a Sunday fundraiser that drew top California Democrats and captured more than $12m for the conclusion of a swing state tour by the vice-president and her running mate, Tim Walz.

Former House speaker Nancy Pelosi and California governor Gavin Newsom attended the event in San Francisco at the Fairmont Hotel, where nearly 700 people had purchased tickets that cost at least $3,300 and as much as $500,000.

    Typical.

  12. Hallo All! We are FINE. Our lights blinked a bunch of times but we never lost power. We were in NH on Saturday picking up a grandchild and she is still here with us. Sunday was all about gymnastics and sailing. We did encounter a tree resting on wires overhanging the road, but there were orange cones indicating that the power there wasn't live, so we drove under it...and a tree branch smacked our windshield, but no damage.

    1. Lots of Vermonters did lose power, though. And a tree fell on a house and trapped three people (one for several hours), who were later hospitalised. We simply got lucky this time.
