The First Flower

LOL The first flower to open in our fancy garden out front
was a Dandilion that appeared in the gravel pathway!
We left it to feed some early bees.

  1. Cat--- I overlooked your emergent gravity post of yesterday, but will check it out today. There certainly do seem to be some murky things emerging in physics since the JWST set to work.

    1. Very interesting article! Might it point the way toward faster than light travel or communication, for instance? If there are ancient civilizations out there, wouldn't they understand and utilize it?

    2. Alan, I hadn't thought of the implications for et civilizations. Guess it would depend on how advanced their physics was. It has taken us how many thousand years since the Sumerians introduced writing to reach this point? Of course, other civilizations might be brighter and quicker on the uptake. After all, if Aristotle and Ptolemy hadn't been enshrined as infallible, we wouldn't have wasted several thousand years.

    3. If that is true, and we figure it out (which I do not anticipate witnessing), might that qualify us for membership in The Galactic Confederation? But first we have to avoid killing ourselves off by overheating our planet, which looks like a close call.

  2. Emma Brockes: Mockery, low tactics, sexist tropes: gloriously, Stormy Daniels is repaying Donald Trump in kind [Click] I’m not following it closely enough to say if it is true, but I like it!

  3. Predicted high temperature today 87F, sunny, pollen high, air quality good, UV index very high. Ten-day forecast is for temperatures in the high 80’s to low 90’s, which is very nice here. Humidity around 60-65% at sunrise, declining to about 15% at 5PM each day. I got a little work done on the water sprinklers yesterday, and will continue today; I have neglected them for years, and they require maintenance at least yearly. My right leg is feeling better than it has in years, which I attribute to exercise (including weeding); no pain so far this morning.

  4. Finished Cults on Trial. It isn't all that deep, and there wasn't too much I didn't already know, but gathering all the info in one place with one unifying theme seems to me to be helpful. Next up, The Cult of Trump.

Porn star Stormy Daniels was cross-examined by Trump attorney Susan Necheles at his “hush money” criminal trial:
NECHELES: You have a lot of experience making phony stories about sex appear real.
DANIELS: Wow… that’s not how I would put it. The sex in the films is very much real — just like what happened to me in that room.

Oh, Jeez! That ranks right up there with asking O.J. Simpson to put on the glove.

    1. Actually, if Ms Daniels were really experienced or rehearsed as a witness, she would probably have said nothing, since the attorney made a statement rather than asking a question. But such an impromptu response should have gone over well with the jury.

    2. Yes, saying nothing to that comment would be to leave it sitting there unrefuted.

That said, I'm not so sure it helped her to say what happened with DT was just as real as a fictional movie...!

    3. But the movie sex IS real. That was her point.

    1. From Politico.com:
“After the jury was excused this afternoon, the judge heard arguments from the defense and prosecutors on the mistrial request — the second one lodged by the defense this week. Merchan bluntly pointed out what he saw as numerous missteps by Trump’s attorneys. The defense lawyers’ overall strategy, and their failure to object at key moments during Daniels’ testimony, allowed much of Daniels’ testimony to stand, the judge said.”
