You learn something new every day! This explains why some baptism candles I decorated were found the following year to be bent. I had purchased the (tall and 1.5" wide) candles in a specialty shop. But apparently they had more prarffin (tallow-ish) than was wise. I also want to add that the video of hand dipping candles at the 24 second mark shows *very* poor technique. They have their wax too hot and haven't been snipping the drip at bottom of the candies from time to time...which is why the tops are so odd shaped. Ha! There's no need to roll a well-dipped candle. But then, mine are 50-100% beeswax.
Can the Panama Canal save itself? [Click] Interestingly, the article doesn’t mention Mexico’s project to increase interoceanic traffic via the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, which will also include large industrial parks and direct rail access to the US. Import unfinished products, complete them in Mexico, ship them to the US, and avoid import taxes. —Alan
Adam Schiff has earned my disgust and enmity. The fact that he spent money to boost Garvey"s (R) campaign to shut out Katie Porter really ticks me off. Disgusting behavior. And I believe we need a lot more of Katie and her whiteboard and a lot less of slimey Schiff.--Susan
The one thing that makes this a little less unbearable is that the Republicans had poured huge amounts of money into defeating Porter and that's probably the main reason she finished so far behind Garvey. Schiff's money probably didn't make that much difference. Even so, it was the wrong thing to do.
Wow! 5PM here, and we have had pouring rain for some time now! As heavy as I have ever seen here--- like home! Cumulus clouds were building up through the day, but no mackerel sky or mares' tails. Rather warm, too. ----Alan
