Alan, I read that DT’s money deadline is the 9th, but Heather Cox Richardson wrote that it’s the 8th. So I suspect he turns into a pumpkin at midnight into the 9th.
From the Tribune: Five justices ruled that only Congress could enforce this section of the 14th amendment. The other four left the enforcement mechanism open so long as it was nationwide rather than state-by-state. There are apparently unresolved nits in the Illinois ruling, but I don't expect them to matter.
