How Taylor Swift sent the far right into a tailspin [Click] I don’t know anything about her, but it sounds OK. Maybe I will find a clip of her singing, although I do not expect that she will displace Janis Joplin, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, or even Memphis Minnie in my estimation. There is no disputing taste— an ancient dictum that it seems at least some modern Republicans seem to have forgotten. ——Alan
I checked several Taylor Swift videos on YouTube. Lip synchronizing, heavy base line, and apparently fake guitar playing. Not my cuppa, but if she has fans, that's fine. Totally weird if wingers are cranked up by her, but they ARE weird, after all. From my point of view. ----Alan
What you may not know about Taylor Swift is that she started writing her own songs as a teenager. She definitely plays piano and guitar, but much is faked in music videos. You'd have to see her in concert, or just listen to her songs. Her early tunes were hits while she was barely out of high school and she has proved herself a sharp businesswoman. She is a multi-millionaire from her craft, which is no small thing if you consider how little groups like the Beatles got in their prime.
I'm not a "Swifty" and really only like a few of her tunes (mostly the early ones). But I have a sweet story in which she is featured. When Eldest*Grand (now a senior in high school) was in elementary school, she was quite taken with a few of Swift's tunes, which she'd heard several times on the radio in the car, and once or twice on television. She even acted one out (precursor to her work with school theatre). One day, she and her mother were walking the block from their house to the town library and as they passed the quaint white church that is along that block who should come out of the church but Taylor Swift! She had apparently been making a music video there. Eldest*Grand recognised her right away. She turned to her mother in amazement and asked, "Why did she become real?" Apparently she thought things on television are never reality. Ha! Who's next, a giant purple dinosaur?
BTW, the Ruby Flowers photo shows what my brother and I sent to our sister for her birthday today. She has had an horrendous week with her husband in hospital and having to deal with him being very cantankerous.

Brave man. I've never even considered listening to Taylor Swift.

Lead contamination in applesauce possibly ‘economically motivated’, says FDA [Click] I know that lead acetate [“sugar of lead”] tastes sweet, but certainly it ought to be more expensive than other sweeteners. A puzzler.

I think I found the problem. FDA’s food division director's name is ... Jim Jones. 🤔
DeleteEvidence For Never Before Seen Heavy Elements In 42 Milky Way Stars [Click] I remember the possibility of such things in my Nuclear Chemistry class about 55 years ago. This evidence, albeit indirect, certainly seems to vindicate the suggestions of those days.

Reading this headline just after seeing the applesauce post, I first read it as being about heavy metals found in Milky Way Bars. 🤣
