Flowers Along the Path

26 comments:

  1. Hurricane Lee was whirling at 165mph with a pressure of 926mb, earlier this morning.
Currently, it's at 155mph, with pressure of 942mb, and has slowed its forward movement from 14mph to 13mph.
But don't be fooled. It is likely just going through an Eye Wall Replacement Cycle (EWRC) after which it will strenghten markedly. In fact, predictions are that it will be at 180mph by 2:00pm. We'll see!

Note that Category 5 begins at 156mph, and is open ended. There is no Category 6.

    2. That is the hope and the likelihood, but not the certainty.
The darn storm has to actually turn first, and even then it could affect Bermuda, Newfoundland or anywhere in between. One possible path takes it right over Nantucket. But it's just way too soon to know.

    3. What has hurricane trackers particularly on edge is that the National Hurricane Center has been choosing its words very carefully and has left open the possibility of a coastal landfall in the US. They rarely ever mind their words so delicately.

    4. Hurrah for unexpected wind shear!!

Hurricane Lee, while still a major hurricane, is down to a CAT 3 at 115mph, and the pressure is now 963mb.
Moreover, looks like the northward turn will happen further east than supposed, as the storm's forward movement has slowed. Not as good for Bermuda, and may mean it crosses Newfoundland, but better for everyone else along the east coast (including the wildlife). Also, by the time it got to Newfoundland, it would be a much weaker storm, and my friends there are hearty and well acquainted with wind. Hoping this new forcast sticks!

    1. I wonder how many of those people decided to turn state's evidence. Well, it will all come out in the wash.

  5. Just back from the bank; it was recently acquired by a bigger bank; our online banking wasn't working this morning and I couldn't fix it from home. I walked into the bank and there were more customers lined up for help than I had ever seen before; the folks on either side of me had problems with the new bank computers, as did at least two or three ahead of us. The bank employee who tried to help me couldn't do so from her computer, but (unknowingly) got me past a couple of misleading/erroneous computer instructions; what a mess! The previous time the bank changed hands everything went smoothly.

    1. There's nothing to say further indictments might not be forthcoming. And we don't know what testimony the special grand jury heard or how prejudicial it might be for Graham. In other words, we can only wait and hope.
