Do you mean the Pentecostal Holiness Church? Interesting story... Our midwife with our 4th child ended up staying with our first 3 children when we had to take our planned home birth to hospital instead. One week later, while singing in her local P.H. Church, an aneurysm burst and she was rushed to hospital. There, the head of neurology did her surgery and saved her life. He had to go in at an odd angle, basically through her brain, use an electron microscope (which means the surgeon has to make every movement in reverse!). Amazing. She, herself, was not a "Holy Roller" as they are sometimes called. But she chose to attend there because she felt the folks were sincere. Incidentally, had her aneurysm burst while she was at her home...up a steep mountainside...the ambulance couldn't have gotten to her. Instead, she was at church on a paved road. Also...had her aneurysm burst one week earlier, she would have been alone with three children under age 6.
From Wikipedia: Asbury University is a private Christian university in Wilmore, Kentucky. [Click] Although it is a non-denominational school, the college is aligned with the Wesleyan-Holiness movement. The Holiness movement [Click] is a Christian movement that emerged chiefly within 19th-century Methodism, and to a lesser extent other traditions such as Quakerism, Anabaptism, and restorationism. --------------------------- I have only a vague comprehension of what Pentecostalism is, and had not heard of a "Pentecostal Holiness Church," but sure enough, there is a Wikipedia article about it. [Click] Excerpt: “After his trial and acquittal by a Methodist ecclesiastical court for preaching interpretations of holiness doctrines that differed from the rest of the Methodist Church, Crumpler and several of his followers left the Methodist Church and formed a new denomination known as the Pentecostal Holiness Church (‘Pentecostal’ being a common name for holiness believers at the time).”

Via Talking Points Memo: At a conference today in New Delhi, Russia Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, even now the smiley face of the Russian state, was discussing the Ukraine war as the “the war which we’re trying to stop, and which was launched against us using the Ukrainian people.” The comment was met with a round of guffaws and laughter from the audience. What an interesting article! I knew the Moon used to be much nearer the Earth, but hadn't heard that losing the icecaps will increase tides and speed up the recession of the Moon. Wow.
Well, a big Winter storm hit New England. Some got 14" of snow, some got 8" of snow. We were told to expect 6-12". In the end, we were in an area that got a lot of downslope SE wind, so we ended with 3" of snow.

That simulation of two black holes merging is rather cool.

I've never heard of Methodist Holiness Church. Is that a thing?
DeleteJust to add that the Souls Harbor Holiness Church is a fine, creative name! 😁

I don't think I could have laughed. But I'm sure glad they "got it."
