Puffball!

Great meme about the Chinese spy balloon.
Currently over NC where there is now a Ground Stop
on flights out of Wilmington, Charleston and Myrtle Beach.
Apparently the military is planning to nab it.

  1. The Bluebirds returned on Friday as the temperature dropped swiftly, and hung out in the Lilac just outside our window! They loved sitting just above the heated birdbath (which actually had some ice on it), drank from the birdbath, and were grateful for the Winterberries and seeds. We refilled the mealworm feeder for them, too. What amazed me was that a male Bluebird seemed to not mind sharing the space with several Starlings. I guess subzeros make you bold.

    1. "Lost" is a rather imprecise term. Management paid itself a percentage of what was collected, unlike Actblue, which asks for extra donations to pay for operations.
Also, I do not think Winred was restricted to just sending funds to candidates. PACs are problematic. AOC and Katie Porter have set up their own and i am waiting to see the accounting.

    2. Indeed, "lost" should be in quotations. "Looted" might be a better word--a trifle prejudicial, but if the shoe fits, wear it.

    1. Since they had to shut down airports for several hours, and it cost something to shoot it down, I think the bills should be sent to China.

    2. The debris landed in just 47 feet of water. Wil says he wonders how the electronics will do in salt water. Then he added, they'll need a great big bag of rice. LOL.

    3. I would get a chuckle if it proved to be a weather balloon. Various talking heads seem to confuse it with a dirigible, thinking it can be steered and directed to specific surveillance targets. It sounds like they used an anti-aircraft missile to shoot it down, thereby blowing it all to flinders, rather than just puncture the balloon.

    4. I wonder if they used a missile because there was no way to know exactly what the balloon consisted of, and to get close enough for a careful puncture might have proven deadly.

    5. On second thought...it was more likely that they were chiefly concerned with getting it to drop between the shoreline and the dropoff into deeper waters, but in as shallow waters as possible. 47 ft deep isn't too shabby!

This bird just looks pissed off ... and I don't blame him!
At least he did not go hungry at our house (!), so had fuel.
