  2. Peter Zeihan prognosticates on the course of the war in southwestern Ukraine and Crimea [Click] He figures the Russians will have a choice between a massive retreat and a massive defeat. I don’t think his readings of the tea leaves are dicta, but they are certainly deserving of consideration.

  3. (Ben Hodges and others) on the course to follow in Ukraine. [Click] “The West and the entire world should get used to the idea of Ukraine winning the war against Russia by fighting on the battlefield and not through negotiations.”

  4. How Ukraine Prevented Russia a DAY 1 Win [Click] A much better account (albeit with cartoon illustrations) than any I had previously encountered. The heroism of the Ukrainians (including civilians) in the face of a successful surprise attack should be celebrated for a very long time, I think.

  5. As I had suspected. [Click] Russia is using microchips from western-made household appliances in military equipment, e.g. tanks. I recently saw a photo of a big Russian truck loaded with stolen washing machines, and another photo of a washing machine in an overrun Russian position that had had its control panel opened up and torn apart.

    1. In months before the war began, Russian imports of household appliances (notably washing machines) had increased markedly.
