Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) will also step down from Democratic leadership but remain in Congress, Punchbowl News reports.
Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC) will run for Assistant Democratic Leader in the next Congress. That sets up the new House Democratic leadership as Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), Rep. Katherine Clark (D-MA) and Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-CA).
With Pelosi and Hoyer remaining in Congress, that means there will be no vacancies as Kevin McCarthy tries to get the votes needed to be Speaker.
Today dawned clear, and it has been warmer than yesterday but is now clouding up. (I plan to pull some weeds). Predicted high 67F. Spotted this headline on the weather report: “Potentially Historic Lake-Effect Snowstorm Hammering Buffalo, Up To 3 Or 4 Feet Expected”
Yup. My dearest friend, in NW PA already has over a foot of snow off Lake Erie. It'll be SO much worse for Buffalo. It always is. But this one will be horrible, even by their standards. A bit above Buffalo is Watertown (aptly named) which is also famous for Lake Effect Snow. And! The bands of snow they are getting (likely with thunder included ... called thundersnow) are expected to reach all the way to my house...!
Crowd sourcing here. What do you know about muscle strains? I have ruled out a break as I have full mobility. I have ruled out a sprain as it never swelled up or bruised. As far as I know, that leaves a strain. There was no moment when something happened and it suddenly hurt. It just came on slowly over a few days, several days after we finished replacing 40 rails in our split rain fence. I figure I over-did it. I first noticed it when I woke up one morning with my dominant wrist in pain and it made a very slight click-click and within a minute it felt fine. This happened each morning for several days, then it never clicked again. So, I tried wrapping it in an Ace bandage, and that helped it not get into a bad position while sleeping. But, it's now been six weeks and it isn't much better. I read that it can take 10 or more weeks, so I'm just taking it slow and trying not to over-use it, and mostly keeping it in a simple brace.
My plan at this point is to keep doing this until January. I'm not eager to start paying big bucks at the end of the year(I have not hardly met my deductible this year) then have to restart my deductible in January. If I thought waiting would be harmful, of course, I'd make an appointment. It's not very painful...most of the time not at all....only if I forget and try to turn a doorknob to the left or have weight bearing on it while turning it. It can handle any amount of weight if I simply don't also turn my wrist to the left at the same time. Hence the brace.
Anyway, speak up if you think I'm a blamed fool for waiting. And definitely speak up if you have experience with this!
I don't think you are a fool, listener. Could be tendonitis, but whether tendon or muscle the best way of dealing with it would be the same as what you are doing. Maybe some very light stretching, but it might be too soon for that. A mild anti-inflammatory such as aspirin or liniment (methyl salicylate 30%, menthol 10%, camphor 4%) could help. Liniment has the virtue of going just where the problem is rather than throughout the body, and doesn't irritate the stomach; there is a reason that it remains on the drug store shelves after about 150 years. I heard that wearing a brace at night is particularly helpful, and so it seemed to me.
Got a notice in my email that Katie Porter has won her race. I feel much better now. Katie and her whiteboard take no prisoners.

DeleteBoebert and Frisch are now separated by just 551 votes. So, Boebert is now ahead by only .16%. Below .5% means automatic recount...results of which could take until Dec 13th. They *are* still counting votes, which get certified tomorrow. 🤞
ReplyDeleteColorado Sun: Just 543 votes ahead now. Several counties still counting

DeleteStay away from liniment with capsacin (extract of hot peppers).
