    1. Thanks, Alan. This morning our vet called and said, "It's good news." No kidney stones found on the special X-ray. So now we give her pain meds for 5 days and see if she's doing better. If she isn't or if she is but it comes back quickly then they'll do a more comprehensive urinalysis. If that's negative, the next step is ultrasound.
Meanwhile, Spinnaker is feeling somewhat better. You might even say she was feeling no pain.
You see, we came home from the vet with pain med for Spinnaker and gave her the first and second doses. But we felt it was making her a bit too relaxed...semi-sedated. So I called and asked about reducing the dose and they said sure. So I gave her just under a half dose tonight and that seems a lot better.
Then I looked it up. Turns out Buprenex is an opioid! The manufacturer says the usual dose is .05 to .1 ml per kg of cat. Spinnaker weighed 17lbs in her crate, 12lbs herself, which is about 5.5kg. So that would say she should get about .055ml per dose. WELL! The vet's office set her dose at .17ml! Small wonder she was loopy. I have to wonder if someone goofed and gave her the amount for a 17lb cat (using the cat + crate weight) AND forgot to translate that to kg first...! 17 kg is 37.5lbs! YIPE...!
Needless to say, I am going to call and ask to speak with our vet tomorrow to get an explanation. Maybe they thought she needed a heavy dose at first, but to leave it that high for 5 days (with pre-filled syringes) seems nuts.
At least Spinnaker is not miserable like she was. (She does still pee a lot but not constantly now.)

  2. Via politicalwire.com:
“California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) reelection campaign has rented billboards in six states with abortion bans, escalating the Democrat’s battle with conservative Republican governors and courting a First Amendment fight with Mississippi,” the Washington Post reports.

“The ads on the billboards direct women to a California state website that tells users how and where to get an abortion in the state.”

  3. Migrants DeSantis Sent North Weren’t from Florida. [Click] And the folks on Martha’s Vineyard (unlike Faux Gnus) were in no way “owned” by DeSantis. And the White Citizens Councils originated the idea.

    1. I find no information online about whether Ron DeSantis' great grandparents entered the US without papers, but given the times and where they came from it wouldn't surprise me.

Just did a little looking through the USC. Most Human Trafficking laws are specific to slavery or sexual purposes. However...

    3. DeSantis best not expect anyone in New England to vote for him, beyond some right wingers here or there.

    4. Colbert tonight said something like Hey, Ron DeSantis, way to go trying to quell immigration, by dropping people off at one of the most beautiful places around, and just in time for leaf peeping season.

      😆

    1. I was hearing so much hype about how Charles will make a fine King that I almost thought maybe I'd been too hard on him. After all, he wanted to marry Camilla (before she got married) but the royal family would have none of it, and the Queen pushed him toward Diana. BUT! Then I saw a clip of Charles this past week throwing something of a hissy fit because when he signed something he got the date wrong and messed up the ink. What. a. baby.

    2. I didn't read the story, but saw the headlines. Maybe he passed his use-by date.

    3. He passed that back in the 80's.
