The Timken Roller Bearing Company pulled out of Russia early on, like the oil majors and oil field services companies. I think it was about a week after that when Russia's biggest manufacturer and rebuilder of railway cars shut down for lack of said roller bearings (which are also needed for tanks and big trucks, I think). The story above says about a third of Russia's railway cars are now sidelined. Russia is FAR more dependent on railways than is either the US or the EU, because it lacks a modern highway system.

I occasionally refer to Putin as Vladimir IV, since there were three Tsars named Vladimir. I saw a video of him laying a large bouquet of roses at Gorbachev's coffin; the suggestion was made that he might fear assassination at a public gathering. I suppose he might still fall on some bullets from the fifth floor of a building.

I haven’t listened to the whole thing, but the parts I read and heard seem to be carefully planned and well delivered. Never mind that the validity of child baptism has been a bone of contention for centuries, if not millenia. People need to be careful about which schools they entrust with the care of their children. In my opinion.
I concur, Alan. That school clearly acted inappropriately, to do something so significant and to a minor without parental consent! Same people who freak out if parental consent *isn't* required for a minor to have medical care. From a religious standpoint, it's wrong to do that without some thought behind it and ESPECIALLY without consent from the parents who are responsible for ensuring that the baptismal promises become understood and lived out. (And I speak as one who was baptised as an infant in the Catholic Church, as a toddler in the Episcopal Church* AND went through "Believer's Baptism"** as a teen!)
