    2. Being unfamiliar with "The Outlander," I looked it up on Wikipedia; It sounds like it has a lot of potential!

    4. I know more about the book series than the TV series, although I haven't read the books. One thing I know is that C. J. Cherryh, one of my favorit authors, planned to launch a new series with a novel titled "Outlander." When she heard that Gabaldon planned a novel with that title she changed hers to "Foreigner." Her book appeared the same month as Robert Sawyer's "Foreigner."

  4. This web site is really peculiar. Re the "fat Leonard" report, I would only note that the AP reports this kind of thing once and the, perhaps because of its strict copy right rules, the matter disappears.
I sometimes wonder whether the DoD gives AP preferential access because that is what they expect to happen.
It used to be that military personnel were required to perform basic maintenance and provide necessary services. So, they acquired basic skills that maintain an organization. Relying on foreign contractors does not strike me as an improvement.

    1. During several administrations contractors have taken over jobs once done by service members; cooking, for but one example.

  7. Definitely fall temps here. Felt the cool as I went to get my postponed root canal done. And was surprised that the endodontist wasn't the one I expected. My dentist had referred me to a specific endodontist at that practice, and my original appointment has been with her. When it was rescheduled because of my Covid I assumed as a matter of course that the new appointment would be with the same endodontist, but they rescheduled for the first available time without mentioning that this would be a different person. I would have waited had I known at the time, but since I was there I went ahead with the procedure rather than make another trip.

    1. As far as I could tell, it went fine. Except my post-nasal drip chose this occasion to be unusually bad.

  8. No adverse side effects of the bivalent Covid vaccine. Pfizer, like the previous four.

  9. The ‘End’ of COVID Is Still Far Worse Than We Imagined [Click] “The coronavirus is still killing three times as many people as the flu.” The lesson I take away from this is that we should continue being vaccinated and also continue to wear masks in public.
Bill--the article mentions RSV too; I had thought it was simply a disease of young children, but evidently not.

    1. Good article. As for RSV, it is aparently also a threat to older people. I believe the vaccine is specifically targeted to those over 65.
