Institute For The Study of War Russian Offensive Campaign Assessment, September 18th. [Click] “Russian President Vladimir Putin is increasingly relying on irregular volunteer and proxy forces rather than conventional units and formations of the Russian Federation Armed Forces. ISW has previously reported that Putin has been bypassing the Russian higher military command and Ministry of Defense leadership throughout the summer and especially following the defeat around Kharkiv Oblast.[1] Putin’s souring relationship with the military command and the Russian (MoD) may explain in part the Kremlin’s increasing focus on recruiting ill-prepared volunteers into ad-hoc irregular units rather than attempting to draw them into reserve or replacement pools for regular Russian combat units.” Doesn’t seem to me that it augurs well.
I was just on Zoom with a friend whose DH died last year and she has lost about 30lbs and looks about 10 years younger. She had, in his last years, been his devoted caregiver, as he was on dialysis, while also serving as a part time pastor and caring for her dying mother. Small wonder she had little time to tend to her own well being. It's sweet to see her doing so well now. And I am tickled to know you also are taking good care of you!!
I should probably mention that I finally tested negative today. Which means that tomorrow I will go down to the Loop to get the second shot in my RSV vaccine clinical trial.
I hope they will let you take the vaccine. I've heard that one needs to wait two weeks after having Covid, but that's for the bivalent booster, and it may not work the same way for a clinical trial.
And perhaps more importantly, a clinical trial for an entirely different virus. A recent vaccine would call for postponement, but I checked and recent Covid is not a problem.
I had a two hour meeting today, but still managed to watch the Queen's funeral and Committal services. As an Episcopalian, I very much appreciated the liturgy and all the symbolism. The Committal was especially moving, I thought, with the great symbols of power being removed from atop the coffin (scepter, orb and crown), then the Chamberlain breaking his wand in two and placing it atop the coffin as the symbol that Service to the Queen is broken.
The only trouble is that the next Monarch is Charles. Anne would have made a fine Queen, IMNSHO.

So, here’s what Republicans have been up to.
Might I surmise they want to find bamboo fibers? Or verify how many Republicans voted more than once in the same election?
