    From puddle’s son:

For folks who check in on [puddle]:
Mom is doing ok. She is getting older. It is getting harder to see, harder to hear, and harder to move, but she is still moving. Her main activity is looking out the window on the world through her computer and watching DVDs while waiting for web pages to load.
DSL recently came to town and we are giving it a try, but she says it's only marginally better.
Facebook is ignoring her. She can read her Facebook page but it won't let her post anything. Next time I'm up for a visit I'll have a look and see if I can't find the problem.

Similarly, puddle can read here, but only sometimes post.

MaineFem thinks it could be that puddle’s computer is too out of date. I guess we’ll see what her son discovers. 🤞

  2. Lawrence: Donald Trump Is Facing A Judge Who's Not Playing Games [Click] Oh, VERY nice! More detail than one would usually expect about the hearing before Judge Dearie.

    1. With the exception of juvenile court, court hearings are generally open to the public. The press tends to only show up for high profile cases. This is unfortunate because, absent objective observers, the judicial community tends to become self-centered. For example, defense attorneys are deferntial to both prosecutors and judges so as not to get on their bad side. We had a misemeanor case that dragged on for 15 months because we insisted on a jury trial (to expose shoddy police work) and the defense attorney we hired (former head of NAACP) insisted on negotiating a plea. After we rejected the last offer to have the case dismissed, if we paid court costs, a new prosecutor was assigned and the judge dismissed the case. The last thing he wanted was a trial with lying cops on the stand and our defense attorney called it a win because the case was dismissed. That he had been paid up front and our house served as bail all that time did not register as an inconvenience, never mind an injustice.
I have visited the local courts as an observer a few times and, as was true forty years ago when I did it regularly, court personnel get anxious about someone who is just sitting there until they get the nerve to inquire why.
When we had the Arbery killers on trial here, it was well attended (not by me) and at one point the defense attorneys tried to have ministers banned.

    1. I have about decided that Trump, if he is planning anything, is planning to fail. If one plans to fail and fails, that's then success. All Donald really cares about is attention.

(Seems only fair to make puddle’s links clickable whenever I can, since it was puddle who first taught me how to make links! 😊)

“ Earlier this month, New York Attorney General Letitia James rejected an offer from the Trump Organization to settle a civil case concerning whether Trump lied about the value of his properties to manipulate tax laws or bank loans. Tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. (Eastern), she will make a major announcement.”

“New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) has pushed back her “major announcement” this morning to 11:30 a.m. ET, presumably so it would not conflict with President Biden’s address to the United Nations.

The announcement will be live streamed. [link in original post]

Danish Queen tests positive for Covid day after QE II’s funeral

Her second bout this year. (Yes, she is vaccinated.)

“At Westminster Hall on Sunday, on the eve of the late Queen's funeral, she joined the crown prince to pay her respects at the lying-in-state.”

The Queen, 82, has been queen for 50 years…and is now the longest serving head of state in Europe.

  8. I got the new Covid vaccine about an hour ago, so am once again vaccinated {against Covid] to the full extent of the law. Did the deed at a nearby CVS pharmacy--faster and more convenient than Kaiser, and they accept Kaiser insurance.

    1. Well, maybe Trump indirectly improved the gene pool by touting hydroxychloroquin and Ivermectin, but that IS considered poor form.
