Today is primary day in Missouri. Soon we will know which Democrat to support. There are, I think, six on the ballot. Citizen participation in governing is growing but the prss os loath to report it. They like the binary model. Democrats can pay attention to Ohio, Pennsylvania, Missouri, North Carolina and, of course, Georgia where the GOP has reached the pinnacle of voter disrespect with Walker. Have you noticed that Howard is popping up on MSNBC? Oh, and the Lincoln Project is reporting that Trippi is giving them advice. Btw, the Lincoln Project has a couple of TV offerings that are sort of inside Washington. The principals are former campaign consultants who have recognized that they should connect with the electorate.
LOL, Howard is going through his old files. I just got a request to support Moly Gray for Congress from Vermont. That's what happens when you have the same email address for twenty years.
I have not received a direct email from Howard, even though I am in Vermont. So glad to hear I may actually be off the old Dem list at last! I immediately unsubscribe from political requests, keeping only my closest representatives. If I want to send money, I can do that without a plea. Besides, I'm voting for Becca Balint instead of Molly Greay. Molly is a central Dem, you know, DNC-style. She worked for Peter Welch in DC, so I was interested in her early on. But Becca is a Vermonter who has done an enormous amount of good for Vermont already.
So, the Democratic Senate candidate is former Justice Beasley. Of more than a dozen candidates in the primary, she collected the most votes. Meanwhile, Donald has endorsed "Eric" in the Missouri primary, but did not specify which one. My bet is on the wife beater, the former governor.
I started reading my copy of The Word Hord: Daily Life in Old English [Click] I have since elementary school been accustomed to the Merriam-Webster pronunciation notation system, but this author uses the IPA system (OK, it’s modern) plus an undefined sort of spelled-out system that I find frankly maddening. It seems to be based on the English “Received Pronunciation,” which is itself an artificial construction. However, in the appendix there is the best IPA pronunciation guide [Click] I have ever encountered. It still seems sort of weird, and it will take time to commit it to memory, but it’s simple and clear.

What a great buncha links, Alan! Thank you soooo much! What would I do without your keen eye surveying the daily news? Especially at times like now when I have been away for several days, tending grands, I would feel myself so out of the swim. But now I can come home and catch up on the important bits more easily, I'm heartily grateful!
“As Attorney General of Missouri, Schmitt has filed lawsuits to have the Affordable Care Act invalidated by courts, sued school districts and municipalities for implementing mask requirements during the COVID-19 pandemic, sued the Biden administration for its environmental policies, and signed onto an amicus brief that argued that LGBT individuals were not protected by workplace discrimination bans. He filed a lawsuit against China's handling of the pandemic, making Missouri the first U.S. state to do so. After Joe Biden won the 2020 election and Donald Trump refused to concede, Schmitt joined other Republicans in claiming fraud and supported lawsuits to invalidate the 2020 election results.”

I wouldn't place a bet, but the wifebeater wouldn't surprise me.
